Banded cat shark

Hello I have a banded Catshark that I bought about 3 weeks ago he is eating like a pig and is very active but my blue tang has nipped his tail please help is this life threatening to the shark

What do you mean by "nipped"? Generally a nip from a fish just results in the other fish darting off with little to no damage. How large is the shark, how large is the tang (also, is it a hepatus tang or Caribbean blue?), how large is the tank?

The shark is about 6in long the tang is about 5in
The shark has a bit up tail but he eats and acts fine

Like mentioned in the other thread you started you have the wrong tank mates with the shark clearly. Tangs, angels and butterfly's are poor choices to coexist with sharks

Banded catsharks get 4 feet long so please don't tell me this is in your 60 gallon aggresive tank. Sharks should not be put in aggresive systems they are not compatible with puffers, triggers, angels, and tangs because grazing fish for some reason like to pick out the sharks eyes and nip them.

they are not picking at his eyes i don't even see them picking at him i just saw once that the blue tang bit his tail and he did not react at all now i see his tail has some damage
he is eating and acting normal will the shark die or will the damage to his tail heal the damage is not bad at all

So that people can help you, please list what size tank this is in, what are the tank mates, and what is your feeding schedule (what and how much)?

Tank size is 60g but I will upgrade later on it is big enough for him
I feed him once a day fresh squid at 8:00pm when he comes out of the rocks
I have a yellowbelly blue tang, brown tang, Bristle tooth tang, lionfish, bicolor angel,

I have never kept a shark, so hopefully others will chime in. I do know that they are typically kept in long, ideally racetrack shaped tanks without corners. With how large yours already is, I do not think a 60 cube is large enough. I assume the footprint is 24"x24".

Unfortunately, I would be looking to rehome it sooner than later. You already have at least 3 fish in that tank that will outgrow it (or already have). Generally, you want to avoid keeping Tangs and Angels (and Puffers & Triggers) with fish like Lionfish and Sharks. Likely the only way the shark will have a chance is if you rehome it to another, larger tank with suitable tankmates.

My advice is to get a bigger tank first, then add these larger fish. Don't buy fish that you can't house to maturity. And please don't add the shark to your 100 gallon tank with the Undulated Trigger, if you still have that.

I don't have the undy I gave him back but my tangs are happy and lived in that tank since they where tiny but I would re home the shark when he grows bigger I was looking to get s 1500g shark and Ray tank later on

So what is in your 100 gallon? I ask, as they would be a more suitable tank for almost everything in your 60 currently. Otherwise, again, I will say that you will need to rehome the shark to someone or place that can give it what it needs (bigger tank with suitable tank mates). Once you have your 1500 gallon tank setup, then go ahead and buy another at that point.

A 5" tang is too large to be in a 60g cube, anyway. That probably contributes to the biting, most likely it's stressed.
