Bandit angelfish sensitivity to copper

bullitr

broke but happy
I have a few bandit that won't eat while in low dose copper. Are they that sensitive to it?

Thanks

yes, go slow with copper and small angels...when using copper and small angels it can beneficial to ramp up slower that they recommend..they say 20 drops 1st day- try 10-15 drops and wait 2 days, if they are okay, repeat, if they are feeling it wait 3 days and repeat...their recommended final concentration is .50 mg/l, is stay under, around .45...if the fish show no signs of weakness, I might go to .50...

Good luck!

Bandit angelfish sensitivity to copper

Thanks sir
The copper level is really low and was planning to ramp it up slowly but one of the bandit stop eating after I put it back in qt. Maybe I should have done TTM instead. They are still very very active but just not very interested in food at the moment.

Like Ted said angels are sensitive to copper, I personally won't use copper on angels ever again. I prefer CP. If it were me I would do TTM and skip the copper. Most all fish stop eating in copper IME, they do better in cupramine (still copper obviously) and aren't impacted with CP or TTM.

the dosages and treatment I recommended is based on Cupramine...

not coppersafe or othe copper based products...

What type of copper? I'd only use Cupramine also. Didn't have issues with my bandits.

Are you treating cause you think they have parasites or just preventive?

at the same time?

prazi often affects appetites of many fish...

I will be taking them 2 new one out of the qt tonight 3.75 and 5" will be transfer to a new qt without anything until they eat. The 4.25 is back to my buddies reef tank so hopefully it start eating aggressive again.

My 4" still in the main tank eating like no tomorrow, I have to feed the tank 6x so it stay away from my SPS. So far so good.

When I put my 3 bandits through qt, prazi made them stop eating. All 3 were eating very well prior but stopped 3 days into treatment. Since they were essentially half way through, I just completed the rest of the treatment. Thankfully, all 3 started eating again a couple of days after I took them out of QT.

Consequently, if you're dosing both copper and prazi at the same time, it maybe the prazi and not copper that caused them to stop eating. Good luck in any event!

So I did a 40% water change and Run the skimmer the bandit start eating aggressively. Right now all of the bandits eats pellets in my tanks but my bandit that goes to my friend reef died after 5 days :(. I should have keep it longer but it was so aggressive ...

Sorry to hear Lawrence.

Bandits are finicky to say the least over 4". Of the ~10 that I have owned and sold over the past 6 years ALL under 2.5" have done extremely well and had a 100% survival rate and eating within days of arrival (everything from fresh clam to pellets). My 3"-4" eat mainly shredded fresh clam and then move onto pellets. My current bandit is a hog and has been with me 6 years and is around 6".

I received a 6" specimen that was fat and healthy but would not eat a single thing and just withered away.

All fish come in and get therapeutic amount of copper and prazi after day 5. They all dip in their eating habits. They are also very sensitive to environment change. Once they get comfortable, they will become very strong fish.

Thank you sir

All of mine eats pellets very well now maybe too well since the 5" nipping on my tube anemone outside layer too and 4" nips at acropora . I hope they continue to do well. I agree with bigger bandit are harder to acclimate I had some 6" before even though it eats well then all of a sudden it stop after a month.

Question have you keep a trio sir ?
