Bangai Cardinalfish question?

I want to add a pair of TR Bangaii Cardinalfish to my 120g that currently only holds a pair of clowns and various anenome and polyps. Any advice for these guys? Are they the same as clowns as far as determining sex? How do I know Ive got Bob and Jane instead of Larry and Jack? (No offense if your name is Larry or Jack!)

from the mini encyclopedia ..the marine aquarium

a square deeper jaw usually indicates a male incubating a new batch of eggs in his throat.

Other than that.. I cant tell ours apart.. best to just call them spot... fluffy.... Sparky etc to be on the safe side

i'm not sure you can tell them apart from just looking at them through the glass. Cool fish though, I am probably going to get some in the near future.

your best bet is to get 3 of them. tank raised will generally be small and really hard to tell which is which.

The prob. with 3 is that they will pick on each other from what I understand. Or they could become aggressive as a group. That's why I want to get a pair.

As luck would have it... daddy's prego :) he is the one on the bottom. If you look, you can see he has a mouth full of eggs and his lower jaw is quite different than the females... aside from seeing this from time to time, I cant tell them apart. The females color has changed as well while this is going on.. she takes on a bit of a bronze / goldish body color. She is on him none stop... pulls up along side him and shakes very quickly... I would guess he can feel the vibrations thru the water while she is doing this.

They are great fish. I started off with two and then took back the one i didn't like. Heard they do better in pairs. Here are a few pics of mine. Good Luck....
