Bangaii Breeding

I've got what I suspected to be a pair of Bangaii Cardinals. One of them now has a mouthful of something. I'm gonna assume it's eggs. Does anyone think the fry could survive in a open aquascape reef with Damsels and Dartfish?

I have a pair of Bangaii Cardinals which I bought last year in late October. I noticed their "mating dance" and sometime after that the male carrying the eggs. I asked my LFS about separating them and providing for them to breed without the other tank mates bothering but they told me that chances weren't good and to leave them in my display tank with all the others, nature to run its course... Guess what?! One day I noticed the male no longer carrying the babies and did not see the fry. In my 72g, I have a couple of green chromis, true percula clown, fox face, yellow tang, gold head sleeper goby, flame angel and lots of rock with places to hide. My guess is that they became someone's meal.

Kinda my guess also. However, I don't think I want to try and catch either the parents or the future fry.

Yeah, the fry need to be isolated and fed live baby brine shrimp for a month before transitioning to frozen food. One easy option is to sneak over to the aquarium late at night after the lights have been off for awhile, have your wife suddenly turn on the lights, then net the male while he's still in a daze. He won't hardly move at all; I caught mine in a 2.5" x 2.5" brine shrimp net. Do this on day 23 or so, have a little rubbermaid container plumbed into your sump. Feed baby brine shrimp daily. Sell to your LFS.
