WOW!!!!! Very clean and nicely aquascaped tank!!

Great job on the banggai babies! You are officially a captive breeder of banggais!

You need some orange and blues in the tank! A dendro and blue cesp would look great in that tank :D :D

Congrats! Good luck on rasing them. Arlan and Rian (MARS) had some about two years ago now I think and learned a lot. Might try to search for their thread.

Yes very clean tank!

Hi everyone, my name is Melissa and I am now the proud new owner of micynyorkies 50 gallon tank. It is looking fantastic so far and I am so very thankful to her for the stuff. The babies look just as good as they did the day that I saw them.

Looking forward to talking to everyone and learning new things.

Hello Melissa!

Welcome to Reef Central. Lots to read and learn about.

Please see the Chico Reef Club web page as well.

MORE babies!!

MORE babies!!

The first "litter" of 4 babies are doing great. I just collected a second "litter" of 25! The first picture is of the new babies. The second picture is of one of the older babies scoping out the new ones.

WOWZERS! You are an accomplished yorky breeder and now a banggai breeder :-) :D :D

When some are ready, let me know! I might want 1 bangai in my tank. The rest you can bring to the frag swap and sell or sell to pet works.

Cool. I think the older babies will be ready in a month or so. Yorkies are much easier to raise. The mom does alot of work. I have to raise live food and feed the fish like 3 to 5 times a day (at first)!!

See if you can get the babies to eat frozen baby brine shrimp because definitely it is a lot of work raising live food for them.

Great work!!! I too would love to have one or two for my tank as well. I"m getting motivated again for my 125 setup.

Yes, I'll have to try frozen BABY brine shrimp. I've been trying to get them to eat frozen adult brine shrimp. They eat the smaller pieces. Thanks!

Ok everyone I need help. I have not attempted to frag yet, get the basic gist and have some understanding but would love to have someone who could show me the way so that I don't screw it up.

Cindy, Mike anyone Help!!!

I am in the process of getting rid of hair algae, boy does that suck. My hubby has a sea hare that eats all of it. So we are moving rock back and forth between tanks. I am adding a yellow tang this weekend hopefully to help out with the algae.

So if anyone would like to help a newbie frag, HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Melissa

Well first tell me what coral you have that you want to frag? Let me know and then I can try to help you.

Also fragging doesn't always have to involve cutting something. It can be as simple as putting a piece of rock next to a certain coral and letting it a piece of it move onto the piece kind of like manipulating it

Yup different techniques have different results too - when you cut/frag the soft corals tend to slime which can be bad for SPS and other sensitive corals. Otherwise it's pretty much straight forward like cutting flowers. GARF and other www sites have some details on how to frag corals.

Good luck.

Maybe on another club meeting or if we find time for Sept meeting, I'll see if someone can do a little talk about fragging. It really isn't very hard.

Last time I went to the MARS frag swap, Anthony Calfo was there and he demonstarted fragging a lot of cool corals donated by a Bay Area LFS. Yeah... but that doesn't help you right now, now does it.... :D :D
