banggai going on 4 weeks

I have a male that has been carrying eggs for over 21 days now, not sure exactly but close to 4 weeks in a few days. Is there anything I can do ?

I say he is carrying since He has a bulging mouth and has not eaten during this time. My tank has been stable except for the water temp getting cooler at nights ( not less than 75, and never more than 79 ). I added another heater last week so temp now stays in 77-79 range. Could this have something to do with it ?

Have the eggs hatched in his mouth yet? Mine held for 7 more days after they hatched and I finally stripped them.

I have not seen any hatched fish in his mouth, that is when his mouth is open. I will check again tonight when I get home.

I force mine to release between day 29 and 32. I catch the male in a large net and he usually spits the babies out with in a minute or two. If you do this too early the babies may not survive. IME if you wait too long you are risking the male eating the babies.

I checked tonight and still do not see babies in his mouth so I am assuming its still too early. I will watch they next few days and if nothing I will get the net.

I have a large fuge I want to transfer the babies once they are out. I plan to feed them baby brine with phyto gut loaded and the fuge also has tons of smaller pods.
