Barely made the club but time for my 180 upgrade (Warning: Progress may be slow)

absolutely gorgeous tank =). Your build is actually one of the ones that inspired me to finally take the time to organize all of my thoughts before i start building my tank =). (ultimately leading to an organized tank/stand/sump/electronics)

twitchy4821 - Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the build. I am hoping it will stay clutter free for as long as possible. What size tank did you select?

I cant see the pics either. Sounds awsome I WANT TO SEE! :)

kalgra - Welcome to the build. Hopefully you are able to see the pictures now.

General Updates - Tank

Things in the tank are coming along quite well. I am officially cleared from my crutches so I hope to have some updates soon. Today I spent a little time just staring into the tank. The tanks pods population is really ridiculous! In a 6 sq in section there are tons of small critters. I am now convinced my coralline algae is starting to grow on the rocks so I moved a piece of my green slimmer to the new tank. It is probably 7 inches or so in length. I will give it a week and if it looks alright I will move over more corals.

General Updates - Tank
Tonight while looking at the tank I felt the Green Slimmer was lonely so I added two more additions. I added one of my Green Pocillopora colonies and a cap that has been in my 20 gal tank. I will post pictures tomorrow as right now they are a little agitated. The cap broke into three pieces, but is still pretty good size. All corals are just resting on the sand bed until I find homes for them on the rockwork.

When I pulled the Green Pocillopora out of the tank I noticed it had about 6 mini brittle starfish in it so I removed them and placed them in the sump.

Henry,
everything looks great! this has to be one of my favorite threads on here. You definitely took your time to make sure you did things right and definitely didnt cut corners with anything. I am curious about whether or not you have sat down and added up all of the receipts for the project???????

Steve,
Thanks so much for the kind words! I have about two gallon ziplock bags stuffed with receipts. Oddly enough I has planned on sitting down this weekend and trying to see how much damage I have done. I know it is going to add up quickly :(. I have made a few trips to Lowes and Home Depot to return things so it many not be that bad after-all...fingers crossed...lol.

Looking good.

Thanks and welcome to the build :).

So I snapped a few shots of the new corals in the tank.

General Updates - Tank Pics
I moved a few more frags/corals to my new tank. I also was able to catch my existing 3 Glass Cardinalfish and move them as well. I moved another unknown acro and a small frag of Green Pocillopora but they are not pictured. If the pod population continues to grow I will be ready for a wrasse or mandarin soon. I will start off with a flasher or fairy wrasse before the mandarin as I hope to get them to feed on pellets primarily. Then the mandarin will have less competition for its food source.

General Updates - Tank Pics

I moved a few more frags over two nights ago. I did not clean the glass and the corals were still agitated. I am having a hard time getting the pictures to look right in any of my corals that have blue in them. Please bear with me and the pictures...I hope once everything is more settled the pictures will get better. A few of the corals that were transferred over have been neglected for some time due to space issues now they will have a chance to thrive again.

On a side note I saw my Longspine Cardinalfish - Zoramia leptacanthus swim in a big group this morning when I went downstairs. Once they are not as shy it is going to be a pretty sight. The three older ones are now commanders and the little ones are falling in place. I noticed a little bit of tail nipping from the older ones but they are all getting along other than that.

General Updates - Tank Pics
I have not moved all my corals from my other tank and I am already feeling like I am running out of space. I think I see now why jamming your tank full of rock works. You have loads of places to put corals...LOL. I am now rethinking my whole frag tank concept. It may be coral overflow where I can put things till I sort out what I want in the tank.

I think this was a stylopra

looking really good Henry!!!!! how are doing with your levels? how much are dosing every day?

Thanks Steve. I just did a water change on Monday and did not measure my main three at the time. Tonight I measured and that should give me a baseline. I also marked my water reservoir so that I can see how much water I am loosing per day.

General Updates - Coral Pictures

I moved a few more corals tonight and did some trimming of the dead spots. I did not take pictures of them all but here are a few of the ones I took last night.

OMG THOSE ARE SOME CRAZY colonies!!

Thanks Nwest. The crazy thing is with this minimalist rock approach I am already running out of space for my corals :(. The good thing is they will have more room to grow in the new tank and I can trim back all the dead areas. The green birdnest colony for example is now about 1/3 the size now after trimming. The part where it has become completely matted I removed. I still have a few more to move including my sunset monti, rainbow monti, and LA Laker monti colonies.

General Updates - Coral Pictures
I have just about finished transferring over all the corals I want to move to the new tank. Now I have to break down the rest of the rock and try to save as many mini stars and pods as possible. The finally step will be the fish.

Snails have settled in and are pretty happy I guess. To show love to their new home they laid a few eggs.

Nwest- I am hoping to get some before and after shots once things settle down a bit in the tank. It is a pain moving things over. I am now down to my fish but the clowns did not get the memo they were to evacuate and on Friday 7/8 laid new eggs again even I removed most of the rock from the tank.

General Updates - Crappy Video
Here are two videos from my 90 of my clowns laying eggs. They are pretty comical during this time. Please excuse my yellow tang in the videos he did not get the memo it was not about him.
