Barry's 29gal Coralife BioCube

Sometimes it's for the best of everything else in the tank

dunno, corals are weird. For me, unless it's a giant coral, I tend to leave them alone and let them die. Sometimes, they'll miraculously come back, if not, it's liverock to mount frags to and grow out to swap with someone down the road. Fungia's propagate by dieing as a polyp, then "out of the ashes" rise maybe a dozen mini fungias that then spread around and grow.

Sorry for your loss though. It probably wasn't the magnesium, so I wouldn't worry about that test kit. I have the test kit, but I test maybe twice a year (though I should test and dose mag more frequently since I use quite a bit of 2 part).

Do you know if your tank's temp has been spiking at all with the weather? Still everything else in the tank seems normal/happy? Who knows. Sorry man. Sometimes this hobby just :mad:

Alk is a little low, but nothing to be of serious concern.

I would have left it in the tank. I've been reading more and more stories on here about people thinking their LPS's are dead, and out of no where they sprout up again.

Sorry for the loss though, just lost my second flame angel too. I feel bad for the little guy, but at the end of the day, its only a fish(money) I lost. Least that's how I see it.

Yes I knew the Alk. was a little low, but it seems in my tank to jump up and down a little.
But everything else is doing great (knock on wood). I just can't watch something die
a slow death. The last two days my torch went down hill super fast.

I guess if it was a prized piece I would fight more to keep it but typically much easier to get rid of a $40 or so frag and keep the rest of the tank stable. We have all seen one death start a string reaction...

soulpatch that's way I removed the poor thing. I was worried of about chain reaction and have everything
die.

Still waiting on my LFS to get me a yellow sun coral. Very nice looking! Is that picture after lights out? I've noticed mine only opens up fully after lights out.

The photo was take a little after 4:00pm. I feed all my sun corals at that time. I do add a little
food a few minuts before to get them to open up..

Reactor and ++++++

Reactor and ++++++

Hi All,
I have a question: In my BC29 inTank media basket all I am running is filter floss at the moment.
I use to run purigen and chemi-pure elite, but since I'm running a reactor with
Carbon and GFO I saw no need for the purigen, chemi-pure elite. Am I heading for trouble?
Thanks,
Barry
