Bartlett's Anthias

Fishamatank

I am looking at getting a trio or harem of these fish.

I have a few questions:
Will they flourish in a mixed reef setting with tangs, wrasses, and other aggressive eaters?

Will they be ok with primarily only being fed once per day? On occasion I will feed twice, but I keep quite a few SPS and don't want to degrade the water quality.

I want to make sure the fish will survive in my tank.

I am interested in this as well. Also which anthias will eat pellets like new life spectrum? I don't mean to hijack this thread I want to add to it if that's alright?

Awesome fish! I have a group of 3 in my tank. They are in with wrasses, dwarf angels, hawks and gobies. They are very active and have great color. Because they are so active however, they must be fed twice a day. I also havea lot of SPS. So instead of one frozen cube once a day. I cut the cube in half and feed twice a day. Same amount. 2 feedings.

I had them before, they are IMO the only anthias that would look nice and thriving in the aquarium. Mine would eat pellets, flakes aggressively. After I took downline big tank, I bought one for my 50 and it disappeared after a month of great time in my tank.

They can hold their own with other aggressive eater and will probably eat whatever your feeding. They are fast so they will get plenty no matter who is in the tank with them. Make sure that some of the food is in smaller pieces. Usually I would prefer to add anthias before tangs and wrasses. I think this will be you biggest challenge.

I have 9 Anthias in a 215g tank, three of them are Bartletts. I wll say that the Bartletts are the most aggresive and the most likely to eat anything. The others are more finicky. They get fed at least twice a day, and many days 4 times.

And they eat a lot. They eat the equivalent of up to 6-8 cubes of frozen food a day, a mix of Mysis, cyclopeeze, nutramar ova, fish roe, and roggers reef blend.

This tank is also filled with SPS doing well. Having an SPS tank does not mean you cant, or shoudl not feed your fish appropriately. It just means you have to be able to export those nutrients quickly. For most people, that is a very powerful and appropriate sized skimmer.

My Phos is .03 on a Hanna and Nitrates are zero. My point is, if you are going to try to keep fish like Anthias, you really cant be stingy with the food. Just make sure you can deal with it.

Great fish, have fun with them!!
