most params good. everything within reason. tried tonin lights down tried new bulbs tried inverts. nothing phases this crap. i've had it since day 1. gonna try an ro/di unit will this make a difference? even the tap water is showing 0 phos n 0 nit. this will be the biggest change since uv light years ago. its the only thing i can think after this i'm spent. HELP ME PLEASE! :mad2:

i've got 2 tangs, a sailfin and a newbie powder blue. i also have 2 urchins. 1 black and 1 purple, both shorter spines. yeah the urchins do power through the stuff, but as soon as they eat it it grows back. this algae isn't out of contol it's just unsightly. i want coraline covered live rock not red velevt covered.

I don't know if the RO/DI will solve this particular problem, but it certainly won't hurt!

I've got some of the red turf algae, but it's very closely cropped and isn't taking things over. I actually like the look of it, but I understand that I'd probably have a different opinion if it was pervasive and taking over the tank!

most of the big Turbos eat this "red velvet" stuff. Nitrate and phosphate reduction will limit and (extreme low levels) eliminate it's growth.
