Bearing failing in my Dart pump. Need some advise!

Hi group,

Today my Sequence dart pump started to make noise today. I have isolated the noise to the forward pump shaft bearing/bushing. (Armature shaft)

I am shutting down the pump till I can get parts or whatever it is I need to do.

Does anyone have or know where to get parts? Maybe they will not sell parts but only offer repair service?

In the mean time I will be throwing a few ugly power heads in the tank as back up flow.

Any ideas? Help!

Is the Sequence Dart still under warranty? Sequence has a 3 year warranty on the pump. When this happened to me, it did take them about 1 week to get me my new pump. BTW - if it's the bearing/bushing, they will replace the motor. Their customer service was awesome.

If for some reason you need to borrow a pump temporarily, let me know. I have a Sequence Dart that I am not using. I'd be happy to loan it to you until you get yours replace.

1. Sequence has a very good service reputation.
2. Contact them, get a # then send the pump to get fixed.
3. Plumb my Dart into your system until the cavalry arrives.

Check out this thread for detailed instructions on a complete rebuild I did a few months ago. Call Sequence an they'll send you the new silicon carbide seals (my old graphite ones leaked). I let the leak get so bad that I had to replace the armiture bearings in the motor.

I shouldn't be a problem getting parts directly from the manufacturer. Their directions in their troubleshooting guide say to call if you have bearing noise that persists. It also says that a sqeeling sound can be caused by the slinger (a washer located on the shaft between the motor and the pump head) It can move away fromthe middle and rub causing a squeeling sound. Simply slide it back to the middle of the shaft.

I searched for the thread I posted in the DIY forum in May, and there's 2 new posts before I finished!

I stand corrected. When I called them for the same thing - they offered to send me a new pump instead of just parts.

Rich: Sweet link to the rebuild! I'm all excited to get started. I'm an auto tech so I have all the tools ready to go. Upon closer inspection I can see a moderate ammount of salt creep dusting down from the pump head shaft inlet. Time for new seals too! No actual water comming out but some notable salt creep. BTW... I also put in unions when setting up the plumbing. Really going to be enjoying that decision shortly.

Minh: Not under warranty. Got it used with the tank, no telling how old. Although it does "look" new.

Thanks for offering a borrowed pump in the mean time guys. REALLY appreciate it. I think I will just use the ugly power heads for now but if I see a need to hit you up, I will let you know!

Check anyway, Robert. They go by the serial number, not by the purchase date or ownership.

I agree with Karl. When I called them regarding my pump, I didn't have the receipt either. They just asked for the serial number. Their customer service was top notch!

You can also email them at sales@reeflopumps.com (yes - I know that is sales, but they also use it for tech support).
