Hey everyone im diving back in with both feet. Just going to have 2 clowns A.Percula, and I'd like to have a H.Magnifica. Now with being gone this long and how everything has changed dramatically....how much heartier are ritteri now? Or is there some decline in the health of them...

Can they be kept under LED, or is it wise to just get a halide pendant? Any help is appreciated and now its time to go back through pages searching everything. Going to be nice to have this tank set back up!!

I know I've read some are keeping mags with LED and having good results. I've got older LED DIY (the days when one had to solder the individual diodes together...now they make complete fixtures), and I'm keeping gigs, they seem to do well under LED also. LED's keep improving, so I'm thinking if you get a newer type LED fixture, you will have no trouble keeping a mag happy.

As for mags being easier now compared to back then, I don't think that's changed, but there seem to be quite a few experienced guys on here that have plenty successful experience to chime in. I think the pumps have improved over the last few years too. Instead of the MP40, there's a cheaper controllable version with a cord in the water, it's the WP40, or something like that (not real sure). Looks a little different, but have good reviews as far as I can tell. I don't have any WP40's, just what I've gathered from reading a little. I think the same rule applies today as back then, start with a good/healthy specimen is key. I think some of the LFS have learned to handle anemone's a little better than years ago, some.... Welcome back, and best of luck!

Not inherently any less problematic, though I do think collection and acclimation practices have improved in some circles. Big difference is the judicious application of antibiotics. Check out the stickie by OrionN.

Welcome back to the hobby. Ritteris can do quite well with LEDs. I have a ritteri that is doing great under aquaillumination hydras. Making the jump to LEDs was one of the best choices I have made with my tank. The other new technology that is pretty much a must have is a wave maker type pump like taylor t mentioned. I have one of the cheap WP60s on my 220 and it really keeps the anemone happy.

I concur big difference now is the water circulation technology. I have two MP40s set on tidal flow mode my gigs/corals love it. Led technology is there, I would add that IMO gigs do better with some algae in the system either in the tank, in the refugium, or in a scrubber. My theory if you see where a lot of these animals come from there is algae around them
