beer thread

funny this is the thread I respond to after all my lurking. I also brew here in NC. I have a high gravity stout 1.111 og experiment right now in the carboy. Also a dunkleweisen in the keg and a warsteiner clone just bottled. I brew a good 5 gal every two to three weeks as of late.

If anyone in the area is thinking about homebrewing, lemme know. I'm getting out - I with three kids and the big tank about to come online (plus lots of other hobbies) I just don't have the time.

I need to post an update, since I just got a PM asking about this - and I somehow lost track of someone who PM'd me a few weeks ago after I originally posted. Stuff is not for sale after all. My wife (of all people!) talked me in to keeping it. :D She's a keeper.

^^^^That is the best beer Ive ever had! Kat how much did you get before the seasonal supply dried up?

Yeah I grabbed myself a case too. I've never seen any Kona stuff at Weggies...Ill have to keep my eyes wider.

Pittsford. East Ave. In fact...don't tell the class, but I usually swing by Weggies after yoga to see if they have any. That's where I found the Longboard...and another one, forget the name.

Re: beer thread

Vegmans marketplace has pipeline porter and southern Tier unearthly.

Both styles of beer I love so I had to buy both.

Have you guys tried Goose Island Bourbon Stout??

It's amazing - I can actually only handle about a 1/3 of a bottle at a time - so rich!
It comes in vintages and the 2008 is MUCH better than 2009 - I guess the extra year of aging really mellows it out. Unfortunately, I've only ever seen the 2009 in Wegmans - maybe a liquor store would have the '08.

A must try!

Marketplace Wegmans, across from the mall in Henrietta.

adding to list.

My most recent fave is Left Hand Brewing's Milk Stout. It's a microbrew and it reminds me of Jupiter's stout (out of Berkeley.) A lot of character to it, way more going on then a Guinness or other mass produced stout.

Genny is good if you're out on the lake....but it's not a serious beer.....and yes, i'm this way with wine, too.
