Best brush to clean live rocks?

I was thinking of using a new dish brush but was thinking the bristles would be too hard.

Would a new shoe brush made for buffing work?
They use horse hair......


Lately ive just been using those turkey basters to blwo off the sand on the rock but I reached in to move one and it felt leathery.

Just to clean the rock of leathery substance that does not look like algae.

Also read(from this site) that lightly brushing the live rock can help populate the tank with the purple algae that is currently growing on it.

i use my kids toothbrush(jk) i do use a toothbrush though, its small and takes forever but i like it.

I like using a toothbrush too, really gets into those nooks and crannies!

i have a tooth brush a toilet brush a dish brush and a wire brush

the wire brush works the best (only use it outside the tank) its the size of a tooth brush and is great for getting algea out of nooks. it might have taken off some i little coraline but made short work of the bryopsis i am dealing with

I use a tooth brush and it seems fine to me.

I scrub rocks with a new, never been used, dog tooth brush, because it has two heads that are different sizes.

i'm glad to know that i'm not the only one who uses a toothbrush in my tank..i use it on the rocks and also the corners of the tank where the magfloat doesn't reach well.

Through out the brush and find the source. First do weekly water changes and right before you change out blow rocks but keep it to around 1/4 of the rocks to remove more of these debris and a HOB media filter will help collect more and after a few weeks it will look better.

Then cause could be from lack of flow or powerhead placement or LR placment or fish population or feeding amount and scedule to tanks age and amount and type of CUC.

Automotive brush set. Checker has a 3 piece set of brass, stainless , and plastic . Its a little larger then a toothbrush and will last.

Are we talking about scrubbing/dusting LR as a part of regular maintenance? Is this an important thing to do?
