Best foods for tangs

I'm using larrys reef services herbivore blend as well as larrys algae sheets.

My tang doesn't seem to eat The greens in the herbivore blend. And the meaty portion just seems to "polute" my tank.

He picks at the algae sheets but my clowns damsels and wrasses destroy it before he can get much of it.

I'm just wondering what everyone uses for their tangs

I use Nori sheet and algae from my QT and Refugium. Each morning I add mysis and a mixture of 6 differ t flakes in a free for all. All gone in 5 mins. The nori clip last until noon. The rest of the day they feed off the rocks.

What kind of tang are we talking about? If it's a bristle, then feeding habits are likely to be quite different than other groups of tangs. I have 6 tangs in my tanks, and all but the Chevie eat nori and just about any kind of frozen with enthusiasm. Chevie is much more of a rock/glass grazer; will eat some frozen, but generally ignores the clip.

I have a large powder brown. He eats the meaty stuff in the herbivore frenzy. He doesn't like the veggies in it.

He eats the larrys algae sheets but he doesn't get very much because the other fish destroy it so fast

Unless you're noticing HLLE or something like the fish getting skinny, I wouldn't be too concerned. Some keep tangs on meaty diets their entire lives

I've only had him about 3 weeks. He is probably the fatest tang I've ever seen. Just want to make sure he maintains his fatness lol

I always feed mysis and NLS pellets. I found nori to just make a mess. I know many reefers who have really good success with algae-rich pellets.

I fold the nori up and put it on a clip. The tangs just get bite size piece off of the clip. Nori rarely of ever come off the slip other than into the fish mouth. I will take a picture of it so you can see it. I also hand the clip with fish line so that my sea urchin and snails can't get to it.
