Best QT option for Achilles tang

Hi eveybody. I just went through a fishless display for 9 weeks and have introduced my AT at the beginning of this month. AT has been looking great with no signs of that horror called ich. Treated my AT with cupramine.

That's great to hear! Good job :) my AT had a bad case of ich when I got him, he was treated with Cupramine also.

I just got an AT two weeks ago. Hes been eating well in qt so just began cuppramine treatment. Will treat for a month then prazi for a week. Then leave in qt one extra week with no meds before going to the dt. So that would complete 8 weeks of qt. Will try to post a pic soon. Got him from NYA.

There is a chap selling small pouches of it on eBay. Just do a search. I have added it to my store of treatments. Already have a Purple with ich in QT in copper, so probably will just continue that. But CP next time.

Interesting... I may order some to experiment with as well. Does it store well?

OK, so 150+ posts in - what is the prevailing wisdom on the original question. Would my current 20L be sufficient to house an Achilles for 12 weeks, or do I need to think bigger. No doubt bigger would be better, but do I need to go bigger?

Can someone post a detailed description of what QT regiment will work best for someone first attempting an Achilles tang?

If you use chloroquine phosphate then it is a lot easier on the fish they won't lose much appetite compare to copper.

That's about average for me when a fish requires treatment. Four weeks for treatments; another eight for observation. So, would a 20 work for an Achilles, do folks think?

Temporary I won't see an issue I used a 40 breeder for mine. You can try a 20 long

It will be fine providing you put some flow in there. I did TT with 10g tanks that only held about 8g of water since they were drilled and I had a hydor koralia 10 and 14 I used with the TT. So that was 125xs turn over rate with the smaller pump, and the fish loved it. I had a piece of PVC for him to hide in and he was never in it. Later in QT the fish would constantly swim right in front of my MP60. Short of it is they love turbulent water

Aandfsoccr04 I personally would use the tank transfer method followed by cupramine or chloroquine phosphate for treatment of and crypto irritants. Start after the TT and after you have used prazipro
