+1 on the expensive part! That's the main and only drawback to it honestly.. One can do much better with more options for that price range..
Brs is just beginning to scratch the surface on this topic. But there are those of us, that have done this for years.. And kessil just happens to "for now" have one of the few lights specifically advertised for growing plants, however, most all freshwater led fixtures will work. You can even tune a coral fixture to do this. Logan at Reefbreeders was going to build me a unit, but, at the time, it was just cheaper to do the sodium system(150 watts).. But I would contact him before I ever purchased a fixture for the amount they are asking for that kessil.
It certainly does work and grow, but the price is overkill massively..
They sell good products.. And yes, my photons have never failed me e either.. Because of this, I asked Logan about a light targeting the spectrum for growing plants and algea, as I had just began really getting into that aspect of the saltwater system.. And there weren't many options back then. Then, sun system released the 150,and it was cheap.. That was about 5 to 6 years ago I think. And rb had one of the few fuge lights out (the gooseneck par bulbs your speaking of). I liked them, but wanted to get away from the gooseneck scenario (I had enough with those crazy mogul CFL bulbs). I wanted a full sized fixture.. So he mentioned that option. I just never followed through.. But im sure, from my experience with the photon fixtures, and he confirmed that they were getting fantastic results and par from it..
He also gave me the option of going photon or lux to save a few pennies.. And at some point, I actually might go ahead.. But for my purposes, the vispect is working out insanely great.. Lol, I just have to be careful with it..
