Best salinity to speed up clownfish breeding process

I have two clown fish that fight currently, one is almost double the size of the other. I'm wondering what's the best salinity level to help them breed quickly?

20 gallon
Zoanthids
long tentacle anemone

how long have you had the pair together? sounds to me if they are fighting they are still only becoming a mated pair

I had them like 8-10 month ago. They are still becoming a mated pair. I wanted to speed up that process and set the right salinity level for them.

Turn the temp down to 78 and leave it there for a long time. Then, turn it up to 82. 1 degree each day. This will trigger summer in the tank for them.

Clowns prefer lower salinity. 1.020

What's the basis for thinking clowns prefer to spawn at such a low specific gravity compared to their natural environment?

Is there a source for that? Joyce Wilkersen keeps her breeding tanks at 1.024; however larval tanks are reduced down to 1.018-1.021 for optimal larval survival.

Just take good care of your fish and they will spawn. I doubt that there is any data out there that show keeping clownfish at certainly salinity is better for them/speed up the spawning process. The reason is that getting clownfish to spawn is never a problem, other than few select species.

I hate to tell you this but it's not salinity that speeds up the breeding process. The truth is that your pair needs TIME. How big is the biggest one? If it's under 2.5 I personally say its still in transition from male to female. It takes time for that to happen and then they can be bonded then mated pair. I am no expert by all means but I have been breeding and pairing clowns for 3years now. So I would say be patient and it will happen its a natural instinct for living matters to breed. Good luck
