Best Salt?

Im sure people have personal preferences but what is the most popular brand of salt? Or more importantly are there any specific brands I should stay away from?

Reef Crystals is a pretty popular blend. I've used that and Instant Ocean for years. Reef Crystals is a bit higher in mag, calc and alk.

I've used IO for years and love it. I've tried switching every now and then when a new salt comes out, or I win some salt in a raffle, but IO always seems to do the best. My corals look happiest with IO.

Instant Ocean for me! Will switch to their reef crystals when I need it though!

Switched from reef crystals to Redsea coral pro and I'm much happier now. Both are great choices IMO. Here is a list of salts and their corresponding big 3 numbers.

What is that white film? I noticed it my black rubbermaid mixing bin. I use seachem reef salt.

i believe it undissolved calcium. it does eventually buildup to a point where ur pumps and pipes starts to clog. so i switched to red sea coral pro salt.

FWIW, I strongly believe there is no "best" salt. All have pros and cons that are worth understanding when you select one. Almost all can be used to keep great tanks.

I've always used Instant Ocean to which I add some extra calcium and magnesium.

i started with oceanic but am currently use deep ocean sea salt

I use oceanic now because it mixes sooo much easier than instant ocean... I also have noticed my rocks and tank is covered with corarline algae... Oceanic is awesome for coraline growth.... I've always heard Tropic Marin is the best though...
