So yeah I'm bored and sitting here looking at a big box of cloudy water and rocks. Just set up our 125 and drumming my fingers .... Waiting .... Dreaming .... Wondering ....
I know clownfish is eventually gonna be on the menu but which is best in your opinion???
I Like the idea of something besides ol Nemo but maybe he is best??
Suggestions? Photos?
We are sort of newbies and want easy reliable but not toooooo boring.

Will eventually have 2 or more tangs in case that's relevant ....

Maybe black ones?

, my wife was pretty set on "Nemo" so we picked up 2 small ones. They've grown quickly and seem to be doing well... however, they do spend a majority of their time in the corner. Not the most entertaining, but when they do come out they act like a couple of... well, clowns. Lol.

I am fond of and have a pair of Tomato Clowns. They can get a little bigger than some other Clowns.
As I am not sure of whether I want an Anemone yet, not to mention my system is still less than a year, I wanted a Clown that would host something else.
One of my Tomato's is hosting some Frogspawn and other has been frolicking in the Green Star Polyps. They are very hearty fish.

I should add though, the best Clownfish are the ones you are happy with. I always wanted something a little more unique than anyone else.

gold stipe maroons and a BTA, yes they can be aggressive but sence getting a pair they are beautiful to watch and their darker color as they age looks great. I stick with natural looking clowns though.

I've always been partial to naturally colored A. percula, preferably with more black. I also like nigripes and brown color morph polymnus.

My old percula pair.

My personal favorite are perculas of all varieties, standard, solomon islands, picasso being my own favorite.
Really I like all clowns and think this is kind of like asking what is the best color, just depends, but to help you decide you may want to look at what natural host nem matches are to what clowns and what those nems need, they are all different, this being of course if you plan to keep a nem.
There is a sticky above on clowns and their natural hosts, I suggest you read that.

I quite enjoy my lightning maroons!

When first starting my tank, I was against getting a clown fish. A fish everyone knew and recognized, but would all call Nemo. Wife wanted one though, ended up getting a Wyoming White. Almost entirely white, looks different enough for me to be ok with it, really like the gal. Recently decided I wanted a more normal clown and got a small misbar to pair with the white. They make a cool duo.
