Beta of new Apex firmware now available!

I will post instructions on how to deal with authentication tonight when I'm using a computer instead of my phone. . If you can disable auth for the video stream, that is one solution.
Some cameras allow a guest mode or the ability to disable authentication for the video stream (while still requiring username and password for management access). If your camera does not support this, or you do not want to disable authentication, you can embed your camera's username and password in the URL, like this:

http://username:password@hostname:port/[remainder of URL]

Note that this trick will NOT work when using Internet Explorer, but works fine with the other major browsers - Chrome, Firefox, and Safari

So far everything appears to be working fine for me. Will need to find me a camera but I am holding off until I hear what most people are using and having good luck with. I also would like to see the on/off buttons be colored as well so its easier to see what you have on and off, minor little tweak I would think. Also not sure if this is just me or not but my DIY BoB shows all switches as open. Even when something isn't plugged in. Is this correct? My float switch reads open and when it is fully extended (Telling the top off pump to turn on) it reads as closed. Not sure if it something to do with the DIY or if this is correct. Lastly the only other thing I don't care for is when I come to the webpage it brings me to the old dashboard setup. Would be nice to be able to have it come to one of the newer dashboards or pick which screen you want it to default to when loading up the webpage.

Yes, nothing connected would be open. Closed would indicate a connection.

That's normal, and unchanged.

No connection to BoB = OPEN state.

No BoB plugged in... all switches will read as OPEN.

So my ATO is reading correctly then? Just trying to make sense of this is all. When it reads open there is nothing happening and the outlet is staying off. When it reads close the pump is pumping water into the sump and the outlet is switched to on. This is what is happening now to me and I am just making sure this is correct.

That sounds perfect; you wouldn't want it pumping water if the connection is opened; then it would pump water if the float was accidentally unplugged.

Some days you controller guru's make me feel even dumber! :crazy1::crazy1:

Thanks and now it makes perfect sense when you put it that way.

I went ahead and upgraded. Second base module ready should something go awry with previous FW. It's nice as you can set up dashboard with widgets exactly where you want them. I have lights, pumps, heaters, etc all organized in a better organized way and the frag QT separate too.

Here's a shot of my "current dashboard".

Only feedback I have so far is that when editing dashboard you can't click on the outlets/profiles/etc. More of a usability concern but I accidentally did this while dragging around twice and had to start setting dashboard up again. Keep up the good work!

New platform is a huge upgrade!! Great job!! All setup now but cannot get camera to connect locally in IE9. I have been able to connect and get the camera working in Google Chrome with the following address using a Cisco Linksys WVC54GCA -- http://yourcameraip/img/video.mjpeg
Also works in Mozilla Firefox with same address.

I cannot get the same address to work in IE9 - I only get a still picture and no video. Any suggestions for IE9. This is my preferred browser if possible.

when I'm trying to setup the tile for the webcam, it keeps on trying to go to this link? I changed both of mine to the correct path.

192.168.1.42/img/video.mjpeg

EDIT: figure out what happened. Make sure to hit the "save as default page 1" after you saved the first time.

The 192.168.1.42 URL is a default that is prefilled in the dialog box. When you change it to your personal URL make sure you SAVE the dialog box, then SAVE the Dashboard. You have to do both.

Laser - have you cleared the cache on IE9? Also, have you tried that URL from just a browser window, not via the Dashboard? Could it be waiting on a userid / passwd?

Alan- I did clear out the cache for IE9. When I tried the URL from a browser window I get the same thing - just picture and no video. I can get it locally if I go through the Linksys software. It gives a different URL and when input into dashboard it wont find it at all and display anything. If I type that URL into a web brower it goes straight to the Linksys software page and displays from there. I am sure it is a password issue of some type but cant see where to enter password. I cannot trick it in the URL as suggested above in IE9.

So the camera function only works with ip cameras? Or is it just easier to set up? I've got a regular webcam, not going to spend the extra cash on one just for the tank though.

Yes, only IP cameras, AKA network cameras. I posted this in another thread, but think it's worth reposting here:

The type of cameras which will (might) work are specifically called network cameras... they connect to your network with a network cable and/or via WiFi.

USB webcams are those which plug into a USB port on a desktop or notebook computer. Such USB cameras will NOT work with the Apex web pages. And while talking about USB, it can't hurt to reiterate: NEVER PLUG ANY USB DEVICE INTO AN APEX AQUABUS PORT.

Thanks Russ. I read the instructions and all of this thread, didn't think there would already be another one going.
