one day my wife asked what ithough everything i have for my fish tanks added up to and i said i dunno maybe $7000-$8000
bad mistake she said we could have a swimmingpool for that.

wow sooo many great points to consider! my perspective has changed i must admit. I once believed i was researching when i asked my LFS for advice the post that really got my attention was from: 1DeR9_3Hy about wild cought vs captive bred.
in Austalia a skunk cleaner shrimp (Lysmata) will set you back $200 EACH for a 2cm baby. I assume these are all wild caught as they are difficult to find in the hobby. Now wouldnt it be nice to see them captive bred down under so they could be sustainable, accesable and cheaper? On the other hand all of our clowns/nemos are captive bred but unfortunatly we are still having to purchase wild caught pseudochromis spp.
Heres a challenge: anyone who has a decent setup try and make it your mission to breed ANY animal and give it away to other hobbyists. could be a snail, a fish or even algae! if we all do a little bit it will reduce wild caught animals alot down the track if it becomes common practice
