That is where I originally had it, it doesn't fit because of the lid. There is a simple solution if you cut the black plastic of the retaining wall for the first chamber down an inch or two you can slide the skimmer further down the chamber to the right water level and then the lid will close with no problem.

thank you

Just added refugium

On the very bottom of the center chamber I added chaeto and caulepra. And then velcroed a cheap led to the back of the tank. It's hard to get a picture because it is up against a wall but I'll do my best.

I kinda liked it the way you had it the first time. It looks like you're going to have a tough time cleaning between the glass and the rocks the way it is set up in the second picture. Maybe somewhere in-between the two setups?

Sounds like a nice solid start though! Just remember no tangs, like your icon :p

Oh trust me I know, there won't be any tangs that was from my 150, anyways the reason I changed it was because I didn't want detritus getting built up because it was basically a pile of rocks no order to it, I still might redo it again but I like this one a little more. I can still flit my mag float around the rock too.

looks similar to mine....I made sure i could get a magna float around the glass. i went a little tighter in the back but, i can still get a hand scraper (not sure what u call it...sponge on a stick) across the black section.

The curves are a pain to keep clean, i ended up getting the tunze care magnet for Christmas and it works really well

power head placement was a tough decision for me. i ended up putting my MP10 on the top front right. offset with rotating diffuser for the return line. Some folks dont like them because they slow the flow down but, I like it for more surface agitation and its using an upgraded pump.

Im eventually planning on a second MP10 that will be placed middle back left

looking good so far
Ron

The best thing you can do to prevent detritus buildup is to increase flow. With 2 MP10s on my 29g, even with them running around 40-60%, I get almost no detritus in the display, and most of it ends up in the skimmer or back chambers, where it's easier to siphon out.

I know the mp10 is unbeatable I just don't know if I can bring myself to spend that much money on one or two power heads, I told myself I was going to go simple with this tank, and I know if I get an mp10 I will want an apex to control the tank

I use to have two wp-40s linked to my apex in my 125 and they were great! But now I want it simple enough that I don't even need a controller or alrernating flow. The powerehead I have is a koralia 1600 and I have a second one if need be but the one is already oversized as it is
