OMG, that is incredible! I bet that skimmer holds more than 300g!

Drew -your kids and step-kids can learn to scuba dive right in your tank. Talk about having fun! Who needs Bermuda?

Drej I'm told 800 gallons it holds. Dimensions are 6 ft wide 9 ft tall. I think step boys will go in. Have feeling my jap girls will not.

800g! I'm showing this to my husband. He thinks I'm addicted. Drew, you've given all of us the best line..."If you think I'm bad, look at this tank!"
Your girls don't know what they're missing!

Drew, I meant I'm showing him this thread and pictures. I'm happy you're sharing the build online! Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Your daughter will love Madison! It's my home town and I also did my undergrad there. Hope to move back some day.

Not sure yet. How big it would have to be. And frankly I'll worry more about nitrates in the 2200 gallon sps

Basic rule of thumb is 10" x 10" per 100 gallons when lit from both sides with 35-50gph per linear inch

2200 gal would need 2200 sq inches of algae

4' x 2' = 1,150 sq inches ...... So you would need two of those

96" total linear length x 35-50 = 3,500 to 5,000 gph total flow

This is for a scrubber lit from both sides as well, double the size for lit from only one side. Just scale it up for the pond.

There are some good threads in the advanced forum section here. I find it amazing when people have completely removed all GFO reactors and skimmer and filter socks with nothing but a good algae scrubber in the sump and harvesting giant handfuls of algae every week
