Black ocellaris & Condi anenome?

Has anyone ever had any luck pairing black ocellaris clowns (they're Australian, if that make a difference) with a Condi anenome? I just found a really pretty Condi, but I have heard that clowns will not take to them. Any stories/info to share?

I don't think I have ever seen an ocellaris in a condy. The only anemone fish I have seen with a condy was a maroon, tomato or a clarkii.

Horrible idea.

Clowns will sometimes be hosted by them, but if they do they're constantly at risk of being eaten.

I've seen very young ocellaris host everything from condys to florida rock/flower nems to ricordea.

I would NOT count on it though.

As mentioned above, the condy may eat your clown, and that's a sad price to pay.

Consider that (at least in my area) you can buy a nice BTA for around $40, and a clown is $20, so if you are eyeballing the condy b/c it's cheaper, it may NOT be cheaper in the long run.

Fly Guy (a member here on RC) has had a pair of ocellaris living in a Condy for a couple of years. I tried it years ago, but the clowns always beat the anemone to death, or close to it.

Condys have been known to kill people. No joke.

LOL. How exactly did that happen?

Clownfish are from the Indo-Pacific, and Condylactis anemones are from the Caribbean. The anemone may eat your fish, I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea they would eat the clowns. I wasn't really looking at price so much as I just found a Condi I thought was pretty. I think I will stick with a BTA though.
