Black & white percs

I like the picasso also but not the snowflakes. Too much white. I would like to find a black and white picasso. I think that would be neat.

My female clown has been picking at my BTA since I got it. I do not think it liked it unfortunately I do not have a quarantine tank to seperate them. The BTA went into a cave where it has light through the roof of the cave and the clown seems to mostly leave it alone now.

Hey, Just stopped by and saw this post. You might be able to help me out I have a 30 g I want to keep one of these (black occ) and a regular occelaris together. You think they will get a long? Also how should I introduce them to the tank (same time?) and what size?

Thanks guys!

Yes that will be fine. It will be easier if you get a larger clown and then one smaller one. The larger one will most likely be female, small ones are usually male. There should be less fighting if introduced in this way and at the same time.

Which begs the next question will they and can the two different occs successfully spawn?

I wouldn't see why not. There are many 'artificial' and natural hybrids out there. If a perc and a maroon than spawn and create a cocoa clown, why not?

Wow, I did not know a maroon and a perc have spawned before.

I am starting to revaluate my position on clowns in a 14-gal. Either my female is normally aggressive or the tank is too small. She brow beats the male into a little corner. If he tries to leave she picks on him. She has taken over the front right 3/4 of the tank as her own. I do not remember my regular percs being like this but they had 180-gal.

Sorry, it was an occy not a perc. Here's the link to the cocoa clownhttp://www.proaquatix.com/speciesdetail.asp?ID=46

yes the black and the orange clowns are the same species and will pair/spawn quite readily. the offspring can be determined with a simple punette square equation. all F1offspring will be undeniably 100% ocellaris with 50% het for the black or melanistic gene and 50% het for the regular color.
