Blackthunda77's 80 Gal to 195 Gal upgrade!

Jorge aka Jgoal had a similar issue. This was his fix:

Looks right at home. Down the road if you want to upgrade to a DC pump. Im sure coralvue will assist you with the right adapters to use their DC pump.

Good to know. Thanks. Now off to fabricate an output silencer for this guy. It's way too loud for my taste, or anyone's taste for that matter

Yeah you're right, and while I should try to be more active I'm just not for some silly reason. [emoji24]
Yes, and on top of that, most of you are up north on ft myers, or the Cape. Down in Naples it's basically just me and Jonathan. LOL

I started a build thread in the swfmas website forum as well, but it never really got any love. Lol

You have a parts list or some pics? That's my next project

For my skimmer it was just 1 1/4" PVC. I bought a 2 foot section, a T and a cap (which I drilled a hole into to vent). That's it. Slips right into the output of the skimmer. I did cut the output at an angle because that's how the Reef Octopus one is. My skimmer came with the US adapter so it was easy. HUGE difference in sound. I used to get gushing water on and off, and it seems that as the skimmer got older, the gushing got worse. Now its silent again. I did not notice any difference in production. If you research it some people say that their skimmer overflows sometimes when first started, but I never noticed that at all. I also have an Avast neck cleaner which I love because I only remove the skimmer cup once a month now instead of weekly. I just drain the cup into a tupperware and discard. Next thing is to get a skimmate locker but that might be overkill:facepalm:

Ok, we'll I put together a temporary stand to raise the skimmer to the right height. Also put some pieces together to take care of that noise and splashing issue. The quick fabrication took care of about 95% of the noise and splashing. I'll have to leave it as is till I can source out a US to metric adapter and some schedule 80 grey pvc to make the final version. But for now, it works.
