Blackthunda77's 80Gal Shallow Reef Build

New arrival...

I know these guys are finicky, and need a bigger tank, but I couldn't pass it up. Marine net inc had a killer deal on them. Plus they are already eating from the store. Mine is eating Mysis, blood worms and rogggers food. Trying to get him to acknowledge the nori on the clip. I'm sure he will eventually. I dipped it as per instructions with the fish stop dip we got at macna. No ich on him as of yet and more importantly, eating very well. I'm moving soon and will be upgrading to a bigger tank so he won't be in here long. He's a juvi, only about 3 inches.

Damn.... you snagged a deal at Marine Net. They had them for $99 right? I should have went a grabbed one myself. Just realized you are in Davie. Not too far from myself in Coral Springs. Probably linked in the same groups on facebook without even knowing it. Small world..

oh nice.... im off of wiles just west of Rock Island. I work in pompano with my families aluminum and steel fabricating company.

I like the system!

Are you still running that blue multichip? What brand is it?

Do you run a chiller with those dual 250 lumenmax elites?

What height is the bottom of the reflector off your tank top?

Are you still running that blue multichip? What brand is it? No i took it off and placed in on another tank. Still working though.

Do you run a chiller with those dual 250 lumenmax elites? No, no need to, i just run a small fan on my sump.

What height is the bottom of the reflector off your tank top? About 12-14 inches.

Mr Achilles officially eating from the clip now. Both algea and Roggers food. Being healthy model citizen! Screen capture from my webcam.

UPDATE: PraziPro

UPDATE: PraziPro

I have officially started a treatment of PrazioPro in the tank. I have done some research for the past 3 or so days and extensive reading and the consensus is that in tank treatment of PraziPro in a reef tank is effective and reef safe. I decided to go this route because for th elife of me i just cannot get my sargassum trigger to put on weight. I have come to the conclusion that he most likely has intestinal parasites. He is the only fish in the tank that still looks emaciated, even though he eats well just like everyone else. He also to my knowledge hasn't put on any size either. Started to get a little emaciated behind the eyes as well.

He would have a full belly of food before bed and by the morning he would look like he hasnt been fed in weeks. I will keep a log on here with updates on his condition in case anyone else has similar issues. I followed the dosage on the bottle and treated last night. I added about 20% more than recommended as other stated using a double dose with no ill effects. I turned off all reactors and skimmers and added an air stone in the sump for added O2.

Fingers crossed.

Looking forward to updates on how this goes. Good luck bud.

I had the same problem with my blenny. Would eat but got anorexic looking, stomach pinched in. Treated with 2 rounds of PraziPro and now he's a fat arse! Good luck. Always loved this tank and your livestock selection is awesome!

Thanks Rov, your comment is encouraging. I know triggers should be relatively healthy and easy to maintain fish.

I was also planning on doing 2 rounds as well. Letting the first course go for 5 days, then water change, skimmer and carbon for one day and then another 5 day treatment.

How long after the treatment did you see results? Did you see any physical traces of parasites? Like worms in the feces or anything?

I didn't see anything, just the pinched stomach. After the 2 rounds I left the blenny in qt for a few weeks and by then, it looked like a different fish. I would say about a month after treatment you should see significant change, but as soon as maybe 2 weeks. Blenny is a tank now, lol.

Yeah, but I dosed interceptor spectrum in my display which has praziquantel in it and it was fine. AFAIK, prazi is reef safe.

Sooo.....I got SHAFTED by Tank Wars....

Sooo.....I got SHAFTED by Tank Wars....

In his defense though, he did call to apologize. However, the phone calls were a little late.

I cleared my whole afternoon to make time for his filming. I was in Naples again working on the new house so it was a 2 hour drive for me to get home here and be here by 3:00 which was our appointment. 3:30 comes along and i get a call saying they are running a little behind, can we do 6:30, lol. I said ok, might as well, day is shot already. I had to skip church for all this too!! 6:30 comes and goes, 7:30 i jump in the shower frustrated from waiting, 7:45 i get a voicemail with the apology, (appreciated that at least). His flight is at 10:30 so my tank wont be filmed...:uzi:

So basically a 2 hr drive and a whole day wasted for nothing. Oh well....Just venting a little. Whats funny though is that i didnt even ask for any of this. I was contacted by several people stating that they really want my tank to be entered. Ohh Well, maybe next time. What i was told was that 2 or 3 of the tanks from saturday cancelled and asked to be filmed Sunday since it was more convenient for them. I guess they have lives on the weekends unlike me...:crazy1:

Rant Over.....:deadhorse: HAHA.

On the bright side, atleast this forced me to do a couple nice good water changes, lololol.

Started 2nd round of Prazipro

Started 2nd round of Prazipro

Started the 2nd round of Prazipro last night. Did a water change yesterday afternoon, then last night i added a second full dose of prazi. Still no casualties. I know its been only a week but im cautiously optimistic. Trigger is still eating and his belly looks more consistent and not as "bumpy".

Achillies is doing great as well, eating mysis like a boss as well as roggers food from the clip and grazing on nori all throughout the day (knock on wood). Have not had one spot of ich on it yet and its been about 3 weeks. Hopefully im in the clear. :bounce2:

Here he is putting on some weight. His belly is starting to get some roundness.
