Yea thanks. After borrowing Ur par meter I decided the 150s weren't going to cut it. So I went back to my 250s

how did you quiet your overflows? Great looking tank I actually have the 60g version, wish I would;ve got the 80g one!

It's not really that loud since its in the living room but sometimes I just zip tie some filter floss to the back of the over flow and that quiets the overflow dramatically.

anyone know what would make my scoly deflate like this? Its been like this for a couple weeks. Really dont want to lose this one.

^^ some of those frags look familiar. They should be glued already LOL

Love the canopy BTW. your giving me ideas!!

love the tank and trigger. and that canopy is badass. I am in the middle of my 88g rimless shallow tank too. seeing the Volcano tank made me green with envy and I can't wait to get mine going. just waiting for someone with plumbing knowledge to help me out. :)

what part exactly do you need help with for the volcano? I'm assuming you just have to make a hollow volcano and put a small pump inside connected to the top of the volcano with some piping, tubing, etc and possibly a ball valve to control the flow if you want to.

I'm not exactly going to make a volcano, although I'm not opposed to rockwork sticking up out of the water. It already has a center overflow in the back, so I'm not going to change that. I've never plumbed anything before, so the sump needs to be done. Talked with someone at Creative Aquariums of Tampa yesterday, so hopefully I can get it done soon. I've had the tank for 3 weeks now.... too long without water in it. again, love your tank.

Ok, so for the 3 of you that are still actually following my thread, lol. I should have an update tonight or tomorrow night. I should be getting my 2 lumenmax elite reflectors in today along with the radium bulbs. I also went ahead and added in a 36” strip of blue reefbrites (thanks joel) I thought I would need two but I might hold off on that, 1 strip seems to be doing a really good job, esp on such a shallow tank. Getting that “pop” I was looking for on my corals, esp the scolys and zoas/palys. Marvins red hornets are glowing! I also just ordered a DIY LED kit from ebay. Ive been following this thread on the DIY forums and it looks promising. Im using this as my guinea pig. I ordered a 20watt royal blue multichip along with a driver, heatsink, and driver case. It all came out to $46 shipped. However its coming from Honk Kong so it might be a while till I post an update on that project. Im planning on supplementing my reefbrite with this DIY LED cannon. Im hoping I can squeeze it between my two Elite reflectors. Ill try to post some pics of the reflectors if they arrive tonight.

back to the DIY LEDS, on this thread the guys are going 100% LEDS with hybrid chips of royal blue and 10000k. So far the results look promising. If im happy with the blue i will be receiving i might be placing another order for the higher 50 or 100watt chips and reef if i can replace my halides, which i havent even received yet, lol. The PAR ratings they are getting in that thread are pretty impressive. One of the guys built a 100watt multichip with driver and actively cooled heat sink with fan for about $66. The images are pretty promising however only time will tell how the corals respond. The original thread starter has had his kit running for a couple months and his corals which include SPS are responding positively. Let me know if you guys want to read up on that thread and ill post a link to it.

Very nice! Love that trigger. What's the deal with triggers anyway? You don't see to many. Are they just aggressive in general, or are coral munchers? They are really cool.

Your new lights should look amazing! Cant wait to see pics. As far as LEDs go, I did a Rapid LED kit in my biocube so it was almost DIY. Actually, since I had to solder up and wire all the connections it was pretty much DIY. It really isn't that hard, and LEDs do grow coral. The pop you get from LEDs is almost extraworldly, LOL! Some like it, some think it looks unnatural. I think its awesome.

Most triggers are aggressive. The Xanthichthys family is more passive and the most reef safe. But as with all triggers at some point youll have to choose between your trigger or your inverts (snails and crabs) as most will try to eat them once big enough.
