Bleached Mag

ca1ore

Grizzled & Cynical
Picked up (rescued) a very bleached mag from my LFS this weekend. What's the prevailing wisdom about feeding? No deflation and no distended mouth. I'm inclined to not feed it and let it recover under the lights.

Usually a badly bleached nem can not process light into energy well, so best would be small feedings like mysis 2-3x a week to help regain health.

If it is otherwise healthy, I would feed it. If I have a handy Magnifica, I would also do a zoox transplant.

IMO I always wait a month or two for my Magnifica's to settle before feeding. Even if its bleached white.

It's already starting to color up, so not all the zoox was lost. Will be interesting to see what color it is.

Good, and I know that feeling, when I got that one it was so bleached I had no idea either, mystery grab bag, but I had been searching so long I no longer cared, just wanted a happy place for my clowns.
I did not really want to even post pics of it at first I was so embarrassed, and I was nervous it might not make it, but Minh/Orion talked me into posting progress pics, which I was glad I did later.
It would be nice to see how yours does.

Any pictures of this mystery grab bag?

You know after I posted I actually remembered it was both you and Minh encouraging me for pics, and I thank you both!
It's really nice to see the positive changes documented, you realize so much more in pics than just memory alone, and it encourages others.

Yes it does. Some people take offence to it. I like to see them to know what someone else thinks is bad. Sometimes it is not as bad as they think.

Anyone that has seen my early videos know that 3 inch Hair Algae is bad.. but I was not afraid to show it. People could see someone else's woes and know that they too cant get through it.

You are welcome!

Ooh, those are rare, get it on ebay asap!
I'm really hating on photobucket right now and I have so many years and tons of pics saved there, very frustrating.

Nice worm, cool pics, that may be the ticket for new pics for me, I just have so much stuff from PB that I'd hate to just leave behind, I'm lucky to get to the page i want or copy 2 pics before screen freeze

Mag has oriented itself on the edge of my rock pedestal so that the plane of the oral disc is vertical rather than horizontal. Consequently, top half is coloring up nicely, bottom half is not; thus 'albino' mag is now a 'bi-color' mag.

I also just picked up yellow/lemon BTA that is bleaching this past Saturday. Let's share some notes and pics to see how they are progressing :)

Really it might be best to have your own thread as they are different anemone's and you may have different issues, your tank looks fairly new for one.
I'd post your own and give all specs, params in numbers, time running and all that and track it on your own thread so we do not confuse issues, nems, and remedies, success or not

True. I was suggesting sharing via PM perhaps to avoid confusion.
