blue carpet anemone wont eat

Hello everyone.
So i have this large blue carpet which i bought a month and a half ago and think there is a problem with it. When i got it it use to spread open and eat everytime i fed it pieced of squid. Now during the day it stays folded like its covering its mouth and at night it opens and inflates its foot... though it is not accepting and food i give it.
All params are in the correct range

Do you have a pic of the underside of the oral disc? Does it have bright blue/purple spots on the underside of the oral disc? The anemone looks like a haddoni but there is always the possibility that it is a sick gigantea as well. If the foot buried in the sand or is on the rocks? Hard to see the pics well on my phone.
Either way, the gaping mouth is not a good sign. What is your nitrate level? Also, what type of ligbting is it under a d hiw far from that ligbting it is located.
 
It folds like a gig...tentacles doesn't look like a gig but could be sick and stress. My blue gig I had didn't have or atleast I didn't see any purple/blue verracue at all. I would treat it ASAP with cipro.
 
Thanks for your replies... i sorted the pics in the links and added one when i bought it... i will take a picsture of its foot tonight! I dont think it has bright blue spots I will check it out tonight... the foot is burried all the way down to the glass, i had dug a hole for it there and it never moved. Also the gaping mouth was only a one night issue its mouth is tightly secure now... my No3 stand at around 10 or less so im not blaming them.
I have high powered LED lights... what i didnt mention is that it seems to be folding during the day ever since i upgraded my led's to more power (1 week)... maybe it was use to lower light?

If the anemone is a haddoni (which seems likely) then it could definitely be your lights. I would lower the intensity on your LED's quite a bit, and then slowly raise them over a period of several weeks.
 
Looks like haddoni. Normally a voracious eater. You said water params are in the correct range; however, that would be the first thing that pops in my head when an anemone goes from initially eating to recently not eating. Nitrates that are elevated, ph too low, etc. If it were me I would do a second testing of params.
 
After 6 weeks, light is not a problem. Haddoni normally live on the sand under direct light exposure, sometime enve exposed by low tide. You are not given it toomuch light, espeically if he have been unce the same light for 6 weeks.
I agree with Gary, it is your water, do large water change and I think he likely get better.
 
Minh, he said that it has been folding since he upgraded his LED's to more power 1 week ago. I think Occam would suggest lowering the light intensity as a first possible solution.
 
I did not catch the part that he just increase the intensity of the light. Sorry. I agree that it likely to be the light and you should increase it slowly over several weeks or so.
 
hey guys thanks for the great feedback :) well to tell you the whole story, all of my corals are not doing too well and ive been going crazy as i cannot find out what the problem is!!! all of my mushrooms are sort of bleaching, my hards are not opening as they should etc... and this has been going on for the last 4 months... I upgraded my lights as they wer not so powerful though i have not seen any feedback. my zoas are mostly affected by this because they do not open!
I have a tank at work which is perfect so i took a frag which had not open since 4 months ago and it opened at work!! so therer is something definatly wrong here!

These are my paramters tested both by myself and by LFS:

no3 :~10
no2/amonia 0
po4 : 0-0.03
salinity 1.024/25
ph 8.1

as for lighting I have 16 high powered LED's at 10W each (8 white 8 royal blue)
I do 60L water change weekly (sea water mixed with RODI)
my main tank is 4ft about 350L i also have a sump of 60L and a breeding tank with Cardinals of 40L all connected as one ie total of 450L

I will upload some pics to this link of the setup and light... Please give me your feedback on what you think about the lights etc and what may be the problem!

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but it certainly sounds like you are frying everything with the new LEDs. Keep in mind, LEDs are VERY powerful and if things are bleaching, and the Haddoni isn't happy, params check out, it's light.

Get some eggcrate and stack it, or window screen on top of the tank and over the course of a few weeks take a piece off weekly. Are your LEDs dimmable? Can you set them down to like 10% intensity and increase weekly?
