I bought a little baby hypo like 2 months ago and its been growing pretty rapidly so far i bought it about 3/4 an inch and it is now almost 2 inches and it has a very healthy appetite swims all over my 90 gal but the last couple weeks her underside by her butt mainly has been turning a white color and she sometimes picks at it with one of the rocks and its always mainly when she is pooping. she shows no bumps on her or any white raised bumps so idk what it is.
any advice on what it could be?? or what i can do would be greatly apreciated

thanks in advance!

I dunno know much about the behavior but hippo tang do change color as they grow older, especially around the eyes areas and the belly.

I just moved my rocks around and noticed the same thing he is rubbing up against the sand or rock when he sleeps it will go away or at least my tangs has even my purple tang got scratched up swimming fast and not knowing the layout since i changed it lol..oh well it is the only way to keep them from fighting over territory when a new fish is put in the mix.

yea im planning a big move now from my 90 to a 120 im thinking of buying a flame angel and adding it at the same time as my coral beauty and hopefully they dont fight

but ok hopefully its just changing color a bit

Just a guess, but the little tang may have some internal parasites. IMO, all new fish should be de-wormed with Prazi-Pro. With proper precautions, this can usually be done in the DT.

would it die if it does have parasites?? what kind of window do i have before it does real harm to it?

well i want to wait till i get my mag 24 in a week so i can do the switch to the 125 like that it would be easier to catch because if i try now it will be near impossible with all the caves and rock i have
but i will try thanks for the advice =)

I'd treat the tank with Prazi-Pro. As lond as you don't have delicate worms in there you can do it. Leave the medication in for 5-7 days and perform a water change. Turn off your skimmer or UV light and treat them all. If one has a parasite they will all eventually get it. I just treated my entire tank with it as my 4 years Hippo got Flukes. I could see them on her fins. Probably got them from a food item because I haven't added a fish in a while. Within a week the flukes had fallen off and she looks much better.

Keep in mind all tangs are weird and display weird behavior at times. :)
