"Bonsai Reef" (SPS style)

Nice tank, and a great progression. How are you liking the 120?
Thanks, Growth has been slow due to all the changes, but I'll take slow growth over no growth any day. I really like the 120 a lot. I have it on a lower stand and I like the overall dimensions. Your reef is coming along nicely as well. I wish I could take pictures as good as you. Your thread has some really nice photos. Something I definitely haven't mastered yet.

Thanks Chriskid, I think I've been doing OK considering all the changes (tanks and lighting). I've managed to keep most alive and actually have some growth to show for it, albeit slow. Why haven't you posted any pics of you SPS jungle lately? I know you've been tinkering with the jellies, but I'd like to see.

The tank looks great! Good thing you switched that tank out before you had a real big issue, wouldn't want to clean up 120 gallons of saltwater.....

Thanks, and I know what you mean. The front pane of glass was bowing out more and more.
I don't want to think about the damage 120 gallons of saltwater would do, not to mention probably losing everything in the tank.

Just wanted to give a quick update on a chalice I saved that was scheduled for the chopping block. Not sure what kind it is, but it's nice nonetheless and has roughly 100 eyes/mouths. I just couldn't see it getting chopped up and sold. Here it is:

And here is a FTS with it in it's new home (bottom left hand side)

Thanks, I've been following along your build. Get that stand done already, I can't wait to see that tank set up and stocked.

Going as fast as I can...luckily today is my last day of work till Jan. 5th so I should be able to get her up and running.

Enjoying this thread. I am planning a new build and am considering the VidaRock. If you were starting from scratch would you choose that rock again? Do you feel like you get enough biological filtration from that rock? Do you have any added live rock in your sump?

Thank!

Hi, the answer to your question is absolutely, yes. I really like using the vida rock. I will never go back to live rock or even dry base rock again as long as this stuff is available. I am even using it in a biocube 14 I have setup on my desk at work. I do not have any live rock in my sump. Just the vida rock that you see in the main display, so I would say that it's been plenty, in terms of harboring beneficial bacteria. GL with your tank build.

Thanks. Do you know if they still make the vidarock? I was reading where they may have gone out of business but that could have been wrong. I emailed the company this weekend. Thanks.

Hmmm, I'm not sure because I haven't ordered from them in a while. Try this link and then click on products. There should be different categories, ie....arch, bonsai, centerpiece, etc....

Todd we need a new FTS I love your tank

Thanks Franky, I'll try and take some new shots this month. I gotten some new growth, but nothing crazy. The shortcake piece I bought from you had originally browned out, then colored up. Now it's browned out again. Not sure why, but I think it misses your tank and the T5's.:D
