Bonsai Tree inspired Aquascape

Looks like everything is growing out very nicely.
How are the red spots? Do you think you're out of the woods yet?
I know some are carrying eggs now and probably not eating as a result. Did they all eat readily before carrying eggs?

Congratulations, this thread is the winner of Novembers Thread of the Month!

Congrats Crazy! Now just sit back, relax, and wait for the "Bonzai" craze to sweep through the reefing world! :D

The red spots are surprisingly doing well although i don't think I'm out the woods just yet. They were/are eating very well prior to the eggs and looking very healthy now, except for that one with the eggs. Got me a little worried cause it hasn't eaten for 3 days now, seems like it wants to until it realizes it has a whole bunch of eggs in it's mouth. I'm thinking it's lifespan is over after releasing the fry.

Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all that voted for my thread. I really appreciate all the positive comments and for the support, you guys/gals are AWESOME!!!!

Thor:D

Well deserved crazy...while I also agree with you that Parkavenue's "master at SPS completely" comment is somewhat prematurely deserved...his honesty of your tank being among the best we have ever seen is echoed by many.

Maybe this thread could merit the idea of having a top ten aquascaping sticky.

"master at SPS completely" , no one is a true master, it takes time, trial and error and sometimes plain old luck to have a successful reef experience... But his tank is a masterpiece and i am glad this post made post of the month it is well deserved indeed... Way to go! :D

This is a great thread and eye opener for me on actually how nice cube aquariums are, think wheni I upgrade instead of a 180 to go 180 cubed? Where are you guys finding larger cubed aquariums? I saw glasscages.com and they will add starphire and drill for closed loop. ANy other suggestions?

I'm currently waiting on my cube"ish" tank from AGE, 48"x36"x24".

Other good places to check out IMO are Miracles, AGE, Leemar and Aquarium Obsessed. They'll all be more expensive than GC, but higher quality as well.

Thosr, congrats on Thread OTM!!!

...well deserved!

I know about AGE, I will look into the other ones, but the GC models add up once you incorporate upgrades and accessories.

Where do you order your AGE tanks from i thought i read somewhere that they only deal with dealers and not direct with the public?

I was trying to shop around for quotes to see if i could afford to go with a tank custom made to what i wanted vs the used tank that is waiting to be set up at the moment that has these ugly internal overflows that are killing my view and usable room.

Before I ordered mine I was leaning towards GC because of the base price, but after talking to quite a few people found the same thing, along with the fact that they're not keen on talking through a tank and I'd seen several tanks get delivered with the CL hole in the wrong place, cracked OF box, etc. Plus overall I haven't seen any silicone jobs on their tanks that would help me sleep at night...with that said, I know many very happy reefers with GC tanks.

FWIW, I had several companies quote me out and they were pretty close..I didn't get a quote from leemar because I figuired shiping from CA to MI would be rough...not that TX is much different but...

Most expensive to least:

-Aquarium Obsessed (about $250 more)
-AGE
-Miracles (about $150 less)
-GC (about $500 less)

Shipping is roughly the same on all of them, about $350. I could have gone to pick up my tank from Miracles though...they're not horribly far and Toronto is wicked! I really like the PVC bottom though...makes it lighter and stronger, and that was probably the biggest selling point for me.

That's true, AGE wont deal direct. Most LFS can order through them, or you can go through one of their master distributors (generally a better price too). I went with through John at Kingfish Aquariums. Great guy, very knowledgable. PM me for his email. One thing to note though is it does take a while; You wont see your tank in a week or even in a month... But its well worth it IMO.

...back to Thors awesome tank!

Yea Thors tank is what had me reconsidering using the 180g i have now that is a used glass cages tank with the huge internal overflows that just take away all that great room for aquascaping.

Thanks Stunreefer i believe i have emailed off request for quotes from the top 3.

man, why couldnt they put the overflow for that cube in the center of the back panel? that would make it AMAZING.... still, a very awesome cube, park ave.

FWIW they will put the overflow wherever you want it.

OMG!
That´s the most creative aquascape i´ve ever seen!
Well done crazy4acros, tanks like yours inspire me to be more creative and do my best to achieve the final result (i´m hoping my aquascape to be only 50% beauty as yours)
Don´t care about my poor english please, i´m from Brazil. i´m, not good at writing in english.....
Good luck!

I could not resist myself when I came across an opportunity to get one of these baby in my tank, at a perfect size of 2-3 inches! I love the way it gives a black contrast to all the brightness/color in the tank. It's also hard to get a decent picture of it without something bright behind it, and will totally disappear when up against the back glass.

thank you Felipe! I wish you the best of luck with your Aquascape.

I can't wait for this tank to get about a year's more growth to it... It will be a SHOE IN for TOTM. I'm thinking about nominating it now just to make sure you don't do anything crazy by letting it crash ;).

Really inspiring and beautiful. I think I'd love to do a tank like this some day.
