hey guys went to petpalace and got me 2 emeralds, 5 gallon jug and and a diamond goby.....question here though,putting him in the qt to start...i know many just dump em into their DT but with my luck if i did that i'd get ick or some crap lol anyways i know they neeed sand to sift but how bout in a QT?


ps: they told me they wernt aware of a club discount there lol
 
Yes they need a sandbed as that is how they get their food! So it would be wise to get it in your tank ASAP if there are no signs of Illness with the Fish JMHO

On my second one since the first one jumped on me. He's a workhorse, non-stop sifter. Make sure your rock work is sturdy cuz he will move stuff around.
 
Wow mine never jumped didn't know they would. Also mine never swim to the top of the tank. She just hang around on the sand bed.


But have to agree with the sand bed is needed.
 
yea they jump....saw him jump in the bucket i used to acclimate him and also a couple of times in the QT but i dont ever fill the QT all the way......saw him jumping and they dont jump very high but if he hits it just right im sure he could leave a DT......im putting a mesh backing to my canopy today......and wifey is gonna help me :D
 
I love diamond goby, that why I tried 3 times. they have excellent personalities, I was pretty sad when I found the dry bodies, even thou I have covered the tank w/ egg create. so.. it's off my list now.

now back to the original topic :D ......... he is bout to go in the DT later tonight....i put together a mesh backing to the canopy which not only is gonna help with the goby not escaping, but the fire fish too when i get them :D
 
lol well pig pen which my wife has nicely named him is in the DT and well the 2 clowns were curious but nothing much came of it but beauty the royal gramma started showing the goby whos boss lol.....it started jumping a good bit and even landed in my over flow box whhich made me go to the shop real fast and make a cover for it lol
 
Yeah the large diamond I HAD jumped about a foot and a half up the wall out of the tank. I got him back in and. Covered the tank for about two weeks till my powerhead went out and I used my transport pump for flow....its thicker large cord at the side of the tank pushed my cover open about two inches about which he escaped the morning of the last meeting......he was dried in my kitchen floor.
 
ok so now the goby is like swimminging in one small area at near the surface of the tank...back and forth..he went to the sand only briefly then back near the surface..any ideas why he might be doing that?
 
ok ok i got this and saved him lol i put him back in the QT and he is doing much much better...not panting, still and eating a couple of pellets i just put in there....i'll assume my ammonia was a bit higher then 0 even though my other fish we perfectly fine though the DG was a new fish trying to acclimate to that and couldnt i suppose.....last night i did like a 5 gallon or a bit more water change....and supposedly it dropped...according to the stupid test kits.....i need the dang hanna checkers lol
