Bought new led light fixture from China.

rlan, I personally would go with your last photo. "add more white 2" It's basically my layout and replacing the green. It's more uniform and has more royal blues which are beneficial for corals. It also allows you in the future to replace the red with 12k white if you need a whiter look and it does not disrupt the uniformity. Just remember that each cluster needs to alternate.

Gracias....I will talk to Kevin and have him make it that way. Let's see how it goes.

Thanks man.

Gillguy, i'm still unsure what's best to do for my new tank. It's roughly 35.5x19.5x19.5 (or 900x500x500 mm)

I'd really prefer to use the leg mounts.

The S200 is 900mm, same as my tank so the legs wont work with it? Next option is the S150 which is 24" I think, that will leave 6" each side of the LED unit compared to my tank length.

Would the S150 offer full coverage and if so with what optics? Bearing in mind my tank is only 19.5" deep, but will have a 2" sandbed and be on the leg mounts.

Cheers bud

I got my S400 and install it. I was expecting to be at lot brighter with all channels at 100%. I know you can't tell much with LED's but this setup does not look to be too much light. Also, the UV lights look to be very dim comparing them with the other led fixture I have, those are at least 60% brighter.

On a good note, the custom layout I ordered makes a crisp white with blue hint (all channels at 100%) - I would guess something closer to a Phoenix 14K bulb

I thought the same thing but for now it will do. I don't have any corals at the moment so all corals will grow with the lights. Once is full and or not getting enough light I'll buy the second one.

It also allows the LED market to continue to grow and hopefully settle on what is best for the corals.

Thanks Gillguy for all your input.

Ricky, two things on why your light is not sufficient. One, your tank is huge and I believe at a minimum you needed two. Also you have 4 UV leds on each cluster. The UV leds are beneficial but the light spectrum it puts out is barely visible. I believe if you had gotten just 2 UV it would have increased your light significantly but you still needed another unit. That's a big tank you have with big dimensions.

gillguy if you don't mind, can you have a wee look at my post a couple posts up from this one, not sure what to order.

cheers bud

Yes, the S150 is best if you want to use the brackets from Ledzeal. If you are handy, you could always make your own if you really want the S200. With the S150 with brackets and with your dimensions I would use 90 degree and 120 on the red and green.

Like I have said before. A tank with 24 inch length using 60 degrees at 12 inches is borderline for full coverage. Stej I would order them with 60's and test it on your tank but I would also order some 90's from Kevin just in case. Replacing them is really easy.

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully I will get my order in soon

Sammy, the ideal setup for you would be 2 s400 (5 FT) units side by side with 60 degree optics. This is because your tank is 24 inches wide x 24 inches in depth. The 60 degree optics will allow you to penetrate to the sandbed. However if you by only one unit you can still get full coverage if you get 120 degree optics and have the unit at least 12 inches above the water but with this setup your light will not be as strong near the bottom of the tank. If you don't have an SPS tank then 120 with 1 unit will give you full coverage. If you get 2 units the shipping is only slightly higher and you will only need one controller. it comes with hanging kit. If you want brackets i believe they are $10. The s400 are $298 each + controller $55 + shipping apprx $90.

Are you sure I should not go with 3 of the S150's due to my tank having two cross braces?

3 S150 will not work because side by side will extend longer than your tank. They need to be seperated by at least 5 inches due to the heat exaust which are at the sides. And you will still have the problem of coverage front to back. One other method that will work for you is getting 4 S120 (16 inch) and mount them front to back using the mounting rails. Going this route will give you better coverage and you can adjust the fixtures easily and also deal with the cross braces. Just a thought.

Gillguy, thank you for your help but I am really confused now.

In essiance I have 3 areas 24" by 24" so how do I incorporate 4 lights?

Susspend them around 10" off the glass top for better light dispersment?

I knew that one unit would not cover the tank completely and I was fine with that; However, the coverage down to the sand bed directly under the lights is not what I was expecting (~30"). I also understand that the UV are almost invisible but I have a DIY led fixture that has some UV's and they are MUCH more brighter then these.

Thats what I have just chosen. Kevin advised me to go with 120 optics although I am ordering some 90's to play with if needed
Also looking to order 3 greens and 3 whites just in case i change my mind about the either not having green or not wanting the red

Is there any benefit to having reds and greens other than making the coral pop? very subjective i know!

Has anybody thought of using warm white rather than the red? Made the fatal mistake of reading more on the subject before I spend my money and now thinking about using 2 warm whites instead of a red/green

From what I understand the warm white gives some of the red spectrum

My configuration would therefore consist of the following (WW = Warm White)

RB WW RB
B B B B
W W W
UV RB RB UV
W W W
B B B B
RB WW RB

Any thoughts?

So You are thinking if you have a 24 front to back and a 24 deep tank to get good penetration to bottom you will need 2 rows? I have a 96" x 24" x 24" the light will be 12" from the water. I had decided to go with the gillguy layout. I have a hood that will only be 84" at the point where the light will hang. I was going to go with a s200 & s300 with 90 degree optics. If I understand it right an led with no lens is 120 degree.

Scrap the warm white idea. Going with RB instead and will order reds and greens as a spare.
I really need to stop reading and start ordering!

Tank 96"x30"x30"

Tank 96"x30"x30"

Hi I am also buying these lights my tank is not a reef tank but a freshwater with Super red in it Kev advised me to buy 2x S300 (tank is 8' so two 3' in line) I will also have a couple of colour tanning lights for the super red along side them,... cost was 890 USD with wireless controller/all the hanging stuff and delivery ...

Gillguy and anyone else that has these lights. Is the power supply fan loud on your setups?

I have mine sitting above the tank. I cannot hear the LED fixture fans but the power supply fan I can.

I have mine below in the cabinet next to my sump behind a door so i don't hear it. The only time I hear any fans go on is at peak lighting and I usually hear the fans on the light kick on for 2-3 second intervals
