Bought new led light fixture from China.

I'm convinced. We are buying our s300 next week. Very informative arguments here guys.

Will be posting some good/bad remarks from our own experiences in the future. Thanks guys.

Use the channel with the blues and UV at 1%.

Thanks man. I'll give it a a try.

WARNING. I was playing with the metal hanging kit that comes with the lamp. I adjusted it few times
trying to see how I will mount it a canopy the cable became kind loose to the point it will not lock back
in place. Glad I was doing this outside the tank.

I was to just hang the lamp from the sides inside the canopy in case I need to make any additional adjustments.

The lenses are easily replaced. The unit has a plexiglass that slides out and it exposes the lenses. I already replaced all four of my red leds from 60 degrees to 80. I used my old lenses from my DIY leds. As far as custom spectrum, you can choose from any of these:
Available spectrum:

410nm UV
450~460 royal blue
460~470 blue
510~520 Green
630 660 RED
3000K /6000K/12000K White

I am very pleased with the color. As far as the daylight white leds. You don't want too many of them. What you really want is as many blues as possible. A 2.5:1 ratio or 3:1 of blue to white is what's best. I had them replace four white leds on each cluster and replaced them with Royal Blues 450nm. I now have only six white and fourteen blues leds and two UV. I added a green and red just for color but not really needed. They will custom make what ever spectrum you want with the available colors. I was surprised how white the lights are at 100% even with the changes I made. I do not recommend getting the standard layout. Too white and corals will not get enough blue which is necessary. Remember that you can control all four channels independently and get the spectrum you want.

Here is the standard layout and my custom one.

I will use your spectrum modification design bro. Thanks again. :)

That's my only real complaint with the fixture. I don't like the rigging.
But it's easily fixed, I've ordered a T Track rig that I'll be flying mine on. And proper hardware is readily available.
I'll post pics and a parts list when it all arrives, and I get a day off to install it....

Definitely try Kevin. He responds within 24 hours. If you have emailed him and no response then maybe they are on holidays. China seems to have several of them throughout the year. S400 was $399 at last years price.

Awsome thanks Gillguy i just heard back from kevin and putting the whole deal together i find myself a little confused when it comes to the controller so heres a few ?'s for those who have already ordered theres i was quoted on a wired$55 or wireless95$ is this needed or an accessory ? Does the light have a built in controller? Which one is de bessst? Thnos fellas

I went with the wired controller, but may wind up buying the wireless just for convenience. The controller seems to store the programs internally, and not in the fixture. Which means it must be kept plugged in at all times. I've found that if I unplug it, the lights go to a random setting, and stay there. The Wireless Controller is essentially that, a RF antenna plugs into the a slot on the wired controller that sends its commands to the fixture. It has a 2nd connector for a wall wart psu to keep the battery charged.

My fixtures each came with a small Wireless Remote - which seems to only have the capacity to manually turn on/off or dim the 4 channels. But, I haven't been able to find a battery locally to try them out.

That's correct. I mentioned way back in the beginning of this thread that the hagging kit is a problem with the issued bolts. The bolts strip easily. If you plan on hanging. Buy better bolts

Well I got 3 of 4 boxes today. I decided to set the one up that I had all the parts to to compare the 2. The left side of the pic is the "gillguy" led light layout all channels 100%, the right is 2- 250 watt phoenix 14k MH. To be honest it is a bit on the blue side for me. It is going to take some getting used to.

Now for the first question with the above pic do I still need to start out at 50-60% . My tank looks dark.

How many whites did you get with that Hodge?

This Layout

Is it possible to add more whites after the fact? Like say if you wanted to swap out 4 blues,(one each end), and use a white?
plus it looks like Gill has additional lighting on his fixture,(vho or T5s)?

Yeah you can order extra leds from kevin at ledzeal pretty cheap. I ordered a few. You have to solder them in if you do change them and I haven't tried that yet. I am going to use them this way for awhile to see if I adjust to it.

Shame you did not have a PAR sensor. It would be very interesting to see readings from various depths.
Also, does ledzeal offer violet leds? If i'm not mistaken, violet hits right on the 420 NM range
Soldering....now i'm getting flashbacks lol.

The uv was what I ordered extra of. The reef club owns a par meter I am hoping in next few weeks to get ahold of it. But it is a long drive.

Yeah, i have one but, i use it with my Multi-meter. Have not taken a reading in a long time. I'll have to figure out how to use the MM with it again heh.

Hodge is that pic with only one unit. If I remember from your dimensions you are getting a total of 4 fixtures and putting 2 on each side correct? I would like to see the color and brightness with 2 on each side. Also did you get the 90 optics or 120.
