I know for sure they offer 60, 90 and 120. I'm sure if you request another degree they might get it for you.

Got my new unit today gilly. I gotta say, I'm super impressed. Glad you talked me into this. ;)

So? What's a good DIY setup to replace my 250 halides? You said you've gotten up to 55%? It has 8 programmable settings. I'm curious if you will tell me how you have yours timed. Mine is setup just like yours, but with 5 clusters. Quite frankly, it's bad a**.

Channel 1 and 3 start at 10% at 6:30 am and increase to 70% at noon. They stay at 70 % till 6:00 pm and decrease to 0% at 8:00 pm. Channel 2 turns on at 10% at 8:00 am reaches maximum 60% at noon till 5:00 then down to 0% at 7:00 pm. Channel 4 on at 9:00 at 10% up to 40% at noon till 5:00 pm then to 0% at 6:30. Glad to hear you like it. It's a great product. Post pics

Tweaked it per my schedule and liking. I'm digging this. :)

One complaint. The fan on the power supply is loud. Isn't it supposed to be variable based on current draw?

The red are very bright. I would recommend 120 lenses and frosted. Any thoughts on this before I order them?

1% is still pretty bright for moon lighting. But it will do.

Fan will turn on and off depending on current usage. I dont hear mine, cause its in the cabinet but does make humming noise.

120 frosted will definitely desipate alot but will work. And yes for moonlight a bit too strong.

Seriously thinking about purchasing 4 of these units for my mainly SPS 315x70x80cm system that has been running very well for the past 7 months with 4 x 250w s/e Radium 20k metal halide bulbs with lumenarc reflectors

I was thinking of these but would very appreciate how I should configure which colours and how many plus what degree optics on what?
or
Should I just receive them as standard as they are already good enough?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated

That's a huge tank. Wow! 315 cm is about 11 feet. Yes four S400 will work great. You can daisy chain them and run them all on one controller. Remember to order the appropriate lenses depending on the height above the water. The higher they are the lower the degree of the lenses. Example: 4 inches (10 cm) use 90 or 120 degree lenses. 12 inches above the water (30 cm) use 60 degree. If you get the red leds use 80, 90 or 120 no matter the height to avoid the spotlight effect or don't use them if only interested in coral growth. Make them royal blue. Here is the layout I have recommended to everyone and what I'm presently using. I alternate the red and green every other cluster.

The only thing I would add is that if you are hanging it ask Kevin if they can throw in four extra bolts that mount on the unit for the hanging kit. My unit is mounted directly to the canopy so I didn't use the hanging kit but my friend used the kit and two of the bolts wore out when they were tightened them too much. If you order it post pictures. I'd like to see your tank with them on.

Finally I bought two S300, and I had the same problems with the screws. I do not recommend these. It is very easy to change for another bigger and safety screws.

I will be ceiling mounting them so in terms of height I could have them as close as 4" from the water or 12" away. What would you recommend given I have a single piece jet cut opti white glass euro brace around the top of the aquarium about 6" thick front and back. I like the idea of still having the one red LED on each cluster as I feel it brings out the pinks and reds in the corals better so will use your template 100%
I just need to know which degree lenses on them now before placing my order.

Could you also tell me whether i should go for the wired or wireless controller in your opinion ?

If you hanging the fixture and have the ability to adjust the height then you should get the 60 degree lenses. As far as the controller. I would get the wired one. It's a very thin wire and I see no major advantage getting the wireless.

Since you are hanging them be careful with the bolts that come with the unit. You might want to find new ones from a hardware store or machine shop because it seems the threads wear off easily as I stated earlier and so did GonTR in post #152.

Hey guys I'm lighting 2 8ft frag tanks with 2 36inch fixtures each I'm paying $700 for 2 36 in lights shipped with controller but there already made can't change the layout what do you guys think of it? Too much white. Channel 4 should be changed to all royal blues or at a minimum 4 RB's on the corners. The reds are for color only. If they can't change the leds for you on the M series then ask them if the leds are easily replaced like the S series. If they are, then just order the extra blue leds and change them yourself. Everything else looks good.

Gillguy, thanks for this awesome find!! Ive been talking to Kevin and he suggested a s200 for my 75g tank that is 39x18.5x25 with the following layout...
