Bought new led light fixture from China.

Let me know if it works now. I tried it through my phone.

That's the same layout I have. Works great. Lots of flexibility on color spectrum.

Hiya Gillguy.....I dont suppose you can help me set these lights up....Got the new led boards, and ready to try and set these.....Any help with this would be great as the instructions are a little vague to say the least...

Cheers Mav...

Try this: Press mode select to DIY mode. Press Set button. Leds 1 will display. Press OK. You'll be in Sequence 1. Now set the time. You do this by pressing the up and down arrows to set the time you want. For each the hour and minutes you must press OK and it moves on. Then set the percentage you want and press OK. To go to Led 2 just press set button and repeat the above mentioned. You must do this for every channel. Sequence #1 and #8 need to be set to 0%. Example mine are 6:30 am 0% sequence #1. Sequence #2 8:00 am 20%. Sequence #3 9:00 am 35% and so on. Sequence C#8 back to 0%. Do this for all four channels. The unit will increase by 1% between set times on each sequence. Good Luck.

You think I should be fine with 60degree lens if I plan to have it above the tank about 6"

Yes 60 degree will be fine because your tank is 39 inches and light is 36 inches so you'll get coverage throughout at 6 inches above the water. Also, since your tank is 25 inches in height the 60 degree lenses will make the light reach the bottom.

Too much white. Channel 4 should be changed to all royal blues or at a minimum 4 RB's on the corners. The reds are for color only. If they can't change the leds for you on the M series then ask them if the leds are easily replaced like the S series. If they are, then just order the extra blue leds and change them yourself. Everything else looks good.

Should I leave the red on channel 4 or move them I'm concerns with color the most and growth will help to lol.

I was also told it's the same as the s series just different look how do you change them? Do you have to sotter ?

Yes leave red on channel 4

I sent you the fwd he didn't get the new version is only $8 more however I looked it has 20 or so less LEDs but I assume that's fine since LEDs are very powerful he might be able to change the LEDs on the old one but if I'm only going to spend $8 more why not also I was paying a paypal fee did you guys do this also?

Merry Christmas to me from me. I just ordered my light last night and now the wait begins can't wait to get it in!!

Fishinizer - I did have to pay a PayPal fee.

Gillguy - Thanks again for the great find and for sharing it with all of us!!

S120 layout?

S120 layout?

I am just getting back into the hobby and I think I have decided on the S120 fixture for a 23.6" x 11.4" x 11.4" (13.3 gal). I am trying to figure out the layout I want for the fixture. It has 40 LEDs in the 16 in fixture. This thread has been helpful, but the S120 has a different grouping than the rest of the fixtures. I want to get some feedback from those more knowledgeable before I order. I think I'd like the red and green for added color, but I'm not set on them. I also don't really know where to put them. Any opinions on optics are welcome. tia

I know the layout is different for the s120. If you are set on having red and green then the layout picture you showed is great and probably the best for that configuration. If no red or then just make then white.

Thanks, Gillguy. I just tried to mod the layouts I saw in this thread. Do you feel like the red and green contribute to your tank color?

Should I stick with 120 optics?

I'm excited to try this fixture. When I last had a tank set up LEDs were out of my price range.

The red and green due bring out the colors of the fish and corals but only for the fish if they are near the top and under the leds. My flame angel really pops. My cats paw coral also colors up nicely. They don't do much for growth though. 120 optics if unit will be near the water line.

I am getting ready to place my order with Kevin. Are you happy with your custom layout? Anything you would do different if you ordered another one? As I may use the same layout. Also I have a 6' 180. I am getting the S400, Kevin recommended 120° optics and put the light 1' AWL. Does this sound right to you?

Thanks

The S400 will work fine for you. If you are putting the unit close to the water line I would use 120 optics. However, 1 inch is too close. You will get splashing and salt build up on the plexiglass. If you want the unit close to the water I recommend at least 4 inches AWL. Here are my suggestions about which optics to use according to height AWL:

4 inches or less 120 degree
5-10 inches 90 degree
11-16 inches 60 degree
17 and above 40 degree

Remember also that the lower the optics the better the par at the bottom. If your tank has a depth of more than 26 inches I would go with 60 degree.

Just a thought about the 4x s400 units I'm thinking about getting for my 315x70x80 cm
is that if I'm placing them one in front of each other and daisy
chaining them altogether. Would i not be able to have a sunrise to
sunset effect from left to right with only 1 wired controller?
Should I just daisy chain the left 2 and separately the right 2 on
their own separate wired controllers to get a left to right sunrise / sunset
effect ?

Also I know you've advised 60 degree optics if the units are 12 inches + above the water line but looking at say the Triton Lani LED units that have no optics would I not be better to either have no optics (if possible on these units) to getter a much better and even spread of light or have the 120 degree optics again to stop hot spotting and disco spotlighting effect and to mix the different led light colours better?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated

The Sunrise effect is not like your normal sun rising in the east and setting in the west. Sunrise mode means that the intensity of the light increases gradually to the maximum setting and then decreases to zero. Sunrise mode on the Ledzeal units can't be programmed it's factory set; However, the DIY mode allows you to customize the intensity you want at what ever time you want. So for your four units, you only need one controller because all of the channels on each unit will increase and decrease together according to the DIY settings.

As far as the Lani units they look very modern with lots of capabilities but you can buy four S400 Ledzeal units for the price of one Lani. plus I'm not fond of one watt leds.
