Bought new led light fixture from China.

I have mine on a small cabinet next to the tank. I'll eventually mount them onto the side of my tanks stand next to the Vortech battery back up. I'm going to keep it on the outside of the stand, mostly to keep it away from any salt spray. And to help keep it cool. Also I can mount it up higher since we have a tall stand and and canopy, the cord isn't quite long enough to reach across the tank. I'm going to attach a muffin fan over the air intake to force cool air into the PSU. Hopefully that will reduce the amount of time the internal fan runs.
 
I was told by Kevin that the power supply fan never stops when is plugged in regardless of ventilation. ???

I had to check that out, so I just put a flashlight on mine and the fan is not spinning. It didn't turn on until over half the channels were above 50%.
Not sure what's up with that... but I'm definitely adding an external fan...
 
That's interesting. I could swear that sometimes mine runs quieter but this morning with all lights off the fan sounded like an engine taking off.

Still, I don't understand why Kevin is saying that the fan is always on.
 
I'm mounting my PSU's vertically on the outside of the tank stand, they're hidden from view, but we hear them whining away when the lights are all on. My wife isn't thrilled with the noise, so it's good to hear the external fan idea worked.

My power supply fan turns on occasionally but only when all of the channels are over 60%. My PSU is inside my stand but I do have a small 6 inch fan blowing air over the top of it. I also have two fans mounted at the back of my canopy drawing cool room air and blowing across the lights inside the canopy. I also have two small computer fans mounted on the lid of the canopy right next to both exhaust of the light extracting the hot air out through the top. All the airflow helps maintain everything cool and power supply turns on less.

I currently have two 8" under cabinet flip out box fans (from a RV) mounted on the sides and two 4" fans in the lid of the canopy with my MH rig. This set up wasn't cheap, but worked so well I was able to take out the chiller. The tank stays at a constant 76*.
Unfortunately the box fans won't fit with the 35" S-200's. I'll probably add a couple more 4" fans in the lid and something over the back if needed. Good thing I bought a heavy duty 4" hole saw for the fans.
 
My light has arrived. Shame the power supply is still sat at the airport waiting to be customs cleared............

What is the recommendation for led color, pattern, projector angle, and/or anything else I might be missing on a S120? think I will do the side mounts to the aquarium. Will most likely be mounted on a JBJ Nuvo 30.

Ok, I am going to try to answer my own question now that I'm at home and not working... and have time to look into it. I'm thinking there are several optimal combinations such as the diagram in post #173, what is mentioned in post #273, or option c in post #300.

I believe my favorite option is the last one mentioned in post #300. However, I'm thinking of using the side rack system on the S120 with 90 degree reflectors and maybe 120 degree reflectors on the green and red. Can someone tell me if this is a good plan or not?

Also, is CW "cool white"? And if so, which led's would be best removed to add the CW?

Any input is mucho appreciated!

You are on the right track. Option #C on post 300 is the better layout. As far as CW you can make half of them. Using the brackets I would recommend 90 optics.
 
Hows it going gillguy ive been trying to get a hold of ledzeal since wed with no luck for info and pricing on a s400 60" unit with a custom layout with no luck. How do you get a hold of them cause the site contact is not working for me i guess or do they usually take awhile to respond?
 
Have found that Kevin is the best person to contact. He is very quick to respond. Generally within a couple of hours, half day at max

Definitely try Kevin. He responds within 24 hours. If you have emailed him and no response then maybe they are on holidays. China seems to have several of them throughout the year. S400 was $399 at last years price.
