Time to get back in?

As a few folks know, a long time resident Female Chrysogaster finally decided a Male was to her liking and we have a new project at hand.

When time allows, I sort out dates, and if this becomes a repeatable event, I'll start/edit/update this thread. Until then, some information is going to exist over on the RC Blogs:

No doubt. First batch was pretty large and hatched last night. Male seems to be doing a good job of tending, we'll see what the next week holds.

What method did you use to capture the fry?
Tunze ReefPack 500 appears to have done a fine job of skimming surface fry and catching those pesky ones avoiding the surface.

Matt,

I agree and thanks.

Issues were many given the timing of the event, including food sources, rearing vessels, and a near tank crash almost killing the parents.

Lets just say, golden eggs, goose, golden eggs, goose,........Goose gets the nod.

I'll put some details out there on the blog, once I get back on top of things in the fish room.

First batch hatched on a "usual" schedule.

No eggs laid since. Tank actually had a minor crash after the two week vacation and there has been significant activity around the tank lately. Female actually stopped eating for almost 3 days, talk about scary.

If/when I catch up on the "to do" list and get ready to work with them, I hope they are using a tile, etc.

Are you going to raise them this time?
Likely the next, really hoping to get them comfortable with the tiles, but I do have their tank set up to support fry snagging if necessary.

Having them breed again with the normal home activity has given me a bit more confidence to get everything prepared to do it right, instead of rushing with sub par spawns.

We shall see.

Hey Scott,
I slipped away from the Newbie forum just long enough to peek in here and see your success; congratulations.

I don't profess to have the skills to add any advice for this thread, but when I get up there I'd like to offer to snap some new pics for your blog. ;)
