Breeding clowns, first attempt

Day 7 and only 11 alive... But they're looking good! Those are my firsts babies , and I am happy I let them live! I put them on the brine shrimp since today, and they ate a lot.
Questions I got, please answer! :bounce3: :
1- I know that parents spawn again in two weeks. ....two weeks from last spawning or two weeks from the night that last clutch hatched ?
2- Is there any "too many BBS" in the babies tank ?
3- when can I add a sponge filter in the babies tank
4- can I put the rest of the artemia in the main display tank ?
Thnks in advance!!

Thank you very much !
But I still don't understand....12 days in between layng eggs.
If the eggs matures in 8-9 days , this means that your clowns only has a 3-4 days break between eggs hatching and laying a new clutch ??

Yes my poor little male clown is a busy dad! He only has those few days off then there is another clutch of eggs to take care of. In between I try to make sure I feed him really well. Usually his favorites, table shrimp soaked in garlic and selcon, squid and beefheart.

Enough so that they don't have to swim more than about 1 body length before encountering a meal. When it comes time to start weaning them to dry foods, you can cut that down.

After a loooong time resting, my pair began a new cycle of spawning!
Finally!
I let two clutches to vanish...
A third one is almost "over". I have only 20-30 left and they are undeveloped. They are 18 DPH and didn't get to meta yet . I guess is because of the low temperature.
They are still alive still....but very small and not even a single stripe on any of them.
Can anybody please tell me a proper temp for fries ?
Thanks in advance

at 80F, they go through meta in about 7 to 9 days. You really want everything at 80F, breeding tank, larval tank, etc. I read somewhere that for every degree lower it will increase their time to meta by about day. If you want to raise the temperature of the water now, do not do it for more than 2 degrees per day (1 degree every 12 hours) or you will fry your larvae. At 18 days, you are better off just waiting, how cold is your water?

Well, my water was arround 72 degrees...so, very cold. This is why they didn't get bigger. I managed to keep them alive until day 20 , when I decided to put them in a bigger setup . But they looked like they were 7 DPH , so very undeveloped.
They didn't managed to find any food in the bigger setup, so they died all of them.

Now, last night, they hatched again. I managed to collect 65 of them. FOund 10 dead in the morning, so I still have arround 50 or so. This clutch was big , but at some point I decided to make a bigger water change, and I guess this was the reason that I lost most of the eggs. Anyway, 50 is a good number, I will give it a try....I expect a few more tonight, arround 10 or so of the lazy eggs .
Anyway, I learned my lesson...80 degrees is the rule! And smaller water volume for the fries to find their rotifers.
I'll keep posting....

Update : I managed to raise some.
Bellow there's a video with two generations toghether. 5 babies from one generation and 6 from the next batch. I think the next one will be better .... I still have 10 from the last hatch.

Anyone have an ideea of why on the hatch night I have only like...50% hatch ? The rest don't hatch in the same night, but on the next day during day time.
What could be the problem? :sad2:
I managed to catch only about 80-90 fries ...the rest remained attached to the rock and hatched the next day one by one during the hole day period. In the evening when I expected to do another catch ...there were no eggs on the rock.

Same thing happened to me. It's day 5 right now fr my premium snowflake clowns. They had 200 babies when they were layed now 50 or so remain. I have no idea what I did wrong. I did notice the mom and dad are kicking sand onto the babies in their cave. So I Angled it upwards so now no more sand. Sti very confused what I did wrong any thoughts hatch is set for Saturday night. Need help
Something went very wrong.....
I had like 200 clown eggs two days ago. Tonight they should hatch. But from 200 , remains only 15 ... Somehow almost all eggs get loose from the rock.
They had a strange colour , a lot more whiteish than usual.
What could gone wrong ?
Maybe that I changed a part of the water in the main display tank where the eggs were laid ?
I don't know what happened, but now I have only 15 or so eggs. These remaining eggs seemes ok, tonight they'll hatch.
But what could be so wrong that I lost almost 200 ??

Another thing I thought was maybe my flow was to high or something. They are in a cave but I do have many other fish including multiple wrasses. I run a mp40. Any help would be greatly appreciated hatch night is in a few days
