Breeding cycles

My pair of gold stripe maroons mated for the first time after being together for 8 years. I'm not sure why it took them so long or what changed in the system to get them going.

They laid four batches in about 6 weeks. After each hatch they were laying eggs the next day. I was curious when they would normally start up again?

The Solomon percs I had never stopped.................they were rabbits.

All of my mated clowns (( GSM -- no longer have; Pink Skunks; Clarkii )) spawn about ever 2 weeks, give or take a day. There seems to be a couple days between the hatch and the next spawn.

Thanks for the response Todd...........so you're saying there isn't a cycle? They spawn every two weeks over & over? There are no cylces or breaks in this pattern?

There can be a few breaks, but that differs b/t clowns. During the first couple of spawns, the pattern isn't always the same. I would say that after the 4th or 5th spawn they should fall into a regular pattern. Some clowns will be effected by changes -- a move, adding a fish, changing the rock work, etc. Other clowns (( not species, just individual pairs )) won't be bothered at all by changes. When I moved 3 years ago my Clarkii pair kept their 2 week cycle.
