Breeding Lionfish??

I have male & female fuzzy dwarf lionfish. I was wondering if there is any possibility of the two of them breeding? Anybody ever had experience with this? What type of conditions would I need to replicate? I have had my male for 2 yrs - is not full grown yet. I had just acquired the female and she is much smaller than her S.O. .The male will just watch the female in her quarentine tank from his vantage point in the big tank. I am not sure if he recognizes her as a potential mate, but he will swim around in small circles all the while watching her in her tank. The tanks are 3ft aprt. I had even placed some eggcrate over her tank to prevent her from carpet surfing.
Is it possible for them to breed?

What would you do if u dint want to raise the babies? I'm planning on getting two dwarf zebra lions (m/f) so I was concerned about them breeding.

You may end up with a war on your hands. D. zebra is not sexually dimorphic/dichromic, however, fuzzies and D. barberi are sexable.

You can typically mix Dendrochirus species with no problems. If you can get them at the same time and "grow them up" together, it's even better.

Since you can't sex D. zebra, it doesn't matter, but I'd try a female fuzzy and a zebra just for insurance. You should be fine, but you never know what two male cogeners might do (I've heard of cogeners fighting on occasion).

Fuzzy Lions don't need a big tank, but they wouldn't turn one down. 70-90 would be a decent size, allow them room and still accept one or two tank mates. Tank mates have to be larger than the lions or they will get attacked at some point, though fuzzies won't eat anything very big. Give the lions some caves to lounge in.
