Brian's 270 Starphire

It depends what kind of adhesive you use. I have some stuff in my garage that would glue anything together for eternity ;)

What are you using Brian?

Very nice Brian. What are the odds of the laminate peeling away because of moisture. I am not very knowledgeable with laminate product. Thanks

Thanks Mark, this was a concern but with all the water counter tops get I was hoping it would hold. One thing I can say is if the two glued sides touch theres no pulling them apart. Trust me I try, I had one little corner touch that I wanted to move a bit and I could move it. :eek2:

Ian, it's wilsonart 500 professional. It has a 15 min dry time. Do you think it will hold. I assume you have don't this before with your costom car bach ground.

The pictures really do not do this setup any justice, checked it out yesterday and it is coming together very nicely!

Thanks Scott, I be around later if you want to use the saw. I'll check on the other thing for you ;) .

New toy came today. 26" PM media reactor. I think I'll have enough room for all the GFO I'll ever need. :D

Brian, What is the status of your tank, has it been shipped yet?

When I talked to Derek at Miracles on Tues., he told me it would be done today (friday). I'm still waiting on pic to make sure everything is OK. I plan to have it shipped the week of Aug 3.

I didn't want it before that seeing how it my wife birthday next week end. I'm sure she would rather have me spend time with her and not the tank, well I hope:).

Plus I still need to finish a few door, put baffle in the sump and a few other odds and ends. I lost all but one of my fish and most of my corals in the move so it would set empty for a while too. :(

I have about 12 guy's line up for Aug 9th to move it in. It will sit on a trailer until then. I need have it deliver to an other location because the truck can't turn around on my dead end street, so I stil have a little planning.

Ill let you know tomorrow what the stuff I have is called. You plan to spray the satnd and the formica, let them tack up, apply the formica then use a router to trim the excess, right? If you have any questions PM me and Ill give you my #. Ive laid that stuff plenty of times...

Awesome news on the tank Brian!

I'm sorry to hear about the fish and your corals. Once my stuff grows out a bit more I can give you frags back of pieces I purchased from you.

Thanks Ian, thats about the same process I have been doing.
What I have done is apply glue to both sides, wait 5-10 min, apply laminate to surface, wait 5-10 min, and router.

I'm about done laying all the laminate and I see no reason this stuff would come undone. After finding out my neigbor has been laying laminate for some time, he believes that it should hold up. Time will tell :) .

Thank David, it's just part of the hobby. I knew there was a chance that this could happen once the house sold and I knew I had to move the fish and corals a few times. I might just have to take you up on the offer down the road.

Sounds like you have a few things to do but putting your wife in front, smart move. I read about your fish/corals on Mark's thread and that sucks but it will give you a chance to rebuild and make this tank better.

I have been married long enough to know who comes first .

As for the fish, I work on a few new one right on. It's a little set back, but I'll recover.

That new tang you are getting Sunday should be a nice new addition :)

Hpoe he nice, no the rarest but I like the location of where there collected seeing how I have a little history with it. ;) LMK, when the flameback is ready.

Here is the finished stand. All the doors are mount with European style hings. I;m sure glad that I'm done routering for awhile :).

That's a pretty short tank... just room for a sand bed...

I know you're anxiously awaiting the next stage - (just been there, done that) ;)

Good luck. We'll be tagging along.
