Thanks Dan! I just happen to be at the right place at the right time ;).

Brian i just came around to take a look at your issues-- I'm there now-- somehow velvet got itno my tank and well you know the endresult!.

Fixing to take all the remaining fish out as well as my substrate( going barebottom) to avoid any residuals prior to rescaping and placing some corals in again.

Anyways I'm glad your situation is nearing an end while mine is just getting startedLOL

looking good,.

Manny, sorry to hear this. i hope that you can get though this problem as it is never fun lossing fish. Do you have any idea on how the velvet got in?

As for my situation, ich is nothing like velvet. The fallow when ok, I did lose a few fish, but in the end I feel much better about the tank. I think in a month or so I'll have a better idea if it work.

Good luck to you!

Thanks! I'll try to get a few pics soon. As for putting him in the display, he still need to go though QT ;).

Sounds good. thanks

Also this give newly acquired fish time to adapt. You are able to make sure they are eat and getting the enough food to build up fat reserve for when they are add to the display.

Perfectly said, I couldn't agree more. It does give the fish time to de-stress while you get him fattened up!

Personally I spend to much time and money to put all my fish at risk, just not to QT them. JMO :).

You do have the coolest angel fish I've ever seen!! :)

One again you still put the rest of you fish at risk disease by doing this.

This is very true and a reason why I'm thinking QT is a great idea to prevent something like this from happening. You never really know if a fish has a disease even if he looks completely healthy at the store. What size QT tank would you recommend? I was thinking like a 10 or 20 gallon if I go this route down the road.

thanks for the link, very good info

I hope to prove this wrong. And after talking to many well experience people in the hobby and other that do this for a living, I feel it can be done. Time will tell.

If you can do this that would be awesome and the fish would surely enjoy it. Maybe it can be done, but you got to be very careful about future introductions. I know you have good techniques and probably won't lose any fish to a lack of neglect.

Brian I think I Do have an idea but between the kidz and work , I overlooked it until it was too late.

Anyways great going.

It all depend on the fish size and how many i have to QT at the time. I have a 30gal that runs all the time.

Dude, you are so lucky. Gorgeous fish!

How do you keep angels and not have them pick on your corals?

I don't tgink that is really any trick, but luck. So, far i have been luckly. Out of all the angels I have had only my female flame picked at corals. I do think keeping them well feed helps :D.

Those new QT fish look awesome, congrats Brian!

Thanks Sara!

Somebody's been going on a shopping spree. Tis the season. Great stuff, Brian!

Thanks Kenny! I do see all the speading slowing down soon :(.

Once again I hope you can get pas this problem. You have a great tank and a nice collection of fish.

Sounds like you went from recommending no fish quarantine at all to now being okay with the idea of quarantining new fish arrivals? To quote Anthony Calfo, "not using a quarantine tank is like playing Russian roulette. Nobody wins the game, some people just get to play longer than others."

I personally QT all new arrivals, not just fish and corals, but inverts too. It is just not worth risking an established tank by introducing diseases and/or pests to your healthy reef. I use a 30 gallon breeder tank for my QT system. I also have a 29g fish only qt tank as well. The bigger the QT, the easier it is to regulate water parameters and temperature in my opinion.
