I love that crocea, where did you buy it?

where is the Aquarium of the Pacific? That is an awesome blue derasa

Wow! The pics are amazing. Those clams are beautiful!! What do you do when they get that big? Do they pose a threat to anything in the tank? What if a snail wonders in there? Will it get crushed? What about a fish? Are they safe with other critters? Forgive me, I know nothing about clams, but this is making me want to learn more!

well crocea and maxima's don't get too huge. If you have a squamosa, or derasa you better plan on haveing a large tank, 125 g min. Or have plans of getting rid of it when it gets bigger. Giga's require even bigger tanks, they get up to 30" in some cases. Snails know better than to get too close. Some fish aren't too smart though, if a clam closes down on a fish both will probably perish. Clams are ok with most other reef safe inhabitants. Some tangs, blennies, shrimp, most angels, and wrasses aren't clam safe.

You have to have perfecly stable water paramaters and good lighting to keep clams, they are alot like keeping sps's.

Ok, I've always thought about getting a clam since I started looking at pictures on here...and was always curious. But I also wanted to add a Coral Beauty of a Flame Angel, so it looks to be out of the question. I also have a mandarin goby that is a curious little fellow...wouldnt want to see him wander to far from home!

Thanks for the info...keep the pics comin!
