Bristle worms

New to the forum, new to saltwater/reef tank as well.
So i purchased a few live rocks for my 10gal tank and i received some free ones from a friend. Just a couple days ago I noticed worm like creatures (centipede like) crawling around on the rocks. They look cool but are they reef safe? And how do i get rid of them because I heard they multiply fast and increases in size rapidly. I've heard of some traps that can be bought or made to capture these guys. Is this true? Thanks for taking your time to read my pest problem.

They're reef safe and a good part of your clean up crew. There are a few large species of worms that seem to have given the rest a bum rap. It doesn't help that they scavenge anything dead or dying so they're usually at the scene of the crime when something dies so they catch the blame.

I had those living in and out of my rocks. I caught and killed a few and they just keep appearing. Now, I will just let the fish do the job or they live.

arrow crabs are voracious bristleworm scavangers if one was so inclined to eraticate them. I agree, they are an integral part of my cleanup crew.

i only remove the larger ones i can see, i leave them be. the reason i remove the larger one is because if i was to get stung by and one i would reather get stung by a smaller one. As eveyone says they are part of the clean up crew
