Bryopsis possible solution

Go ahead and turn your skimmer on, it's not going to effect it. Mine didn't even go crazy like after a dose of prazi, just operating like normal.

Amazing thread. So to recap:

Order Fluconazole from https://www.countrysidepet.com/products/fish-flucon-fluconazole-100mg-10-tablets-thomas-labs

Dose is 150 mg per 30 Liters (7.9 gals)

For water volume of 180 gallons dose is 3,417 mg of Fluconazole (180 / 7.9 = 22.7 x 150 mg)

Remove skimmer cup

Remove GFO/GAC

Remove ATS screen

Turn off UV sterilizer

Mix Fluconazole with RO/DI water and pour slowly into sump

Turn off LED lights that emit UV light

During 15 day dosing period halve feedings

After 15 days, do 20% water change, reinstall GFO/GAC, protein skimmer cup, UV sterilizer, and ATS

Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

That seems to be what we are following Mike, but one other person left their skimmer on here for the entire time, i turned mine on on day 4. I also turned my actinic's back on on my t5 fixture on day 4. It hasn't had any effect on the treatment so far. I would say leave them off as long as you can for treatment, personally my tank was just getting too dirty with the amount of die off so i turned it back on. actinics i turned on just to see if anything would change. We aren't sure yet what will effect the meds so turn everything off as a precaution to make sure it works. I also didn't worry about measuring out a pill if it wasn't even, it called for something in between 2800-2900mg, i just put in 3000mg.

To add to that, i would also recommend running socks. All the die off that breaks will get caught in it, and that was quite a bit for me. I swapped them every 2 days as they got full during the time...

Great, thanks. I have to check to see whether my LEDs have UV lights. If so, I'll run the blue channel on 100%. I'll also keep on eye on die-off, and replace cup if things get intense.

Thanks. I've not used them in a while but will put them back on drain line and replace as needed.

Day 6 with and without the filter on the camera. There's maybe 10-20% of the original bryopsis left, just melting away.

Honestly if i were you i'd put down the tech m bottle and go straight to this. It won't affect your inverts or anything else in the tank like tech m will.

If you switch to try this method I can tell you that you can do it while your Mag is still high. I did it right after Mag treatment did not work for me and didn't bring down my levels until after the Fluconazole treatment.

Tech M is crap went through gallons of it didn't do a damn thing with for bryopsis. Had to restart the damn tank. Wish this was known 1.5 years ago. But then again i wouldn't of gotten a new aquarium :)

So, funny story. I just showed my gf this drug, she laughed because she's a nurse. This medication is mainly used for women who have yeast infections bahahaha

Do you dose this daily until the demonic algae is gone or just once? I am starting to see bryopsis and want to kill it before it can take over my tank. Thanks
