Hi I have a BTA in a hospital tank being treated with ciproflaxacin. It's been four days now and but this morning I noticed a small bubble had appeared out of his mouth. What do you think?

Also its just expelled a dark brown/black ball type thing. It wasn't the browny stringy zooxanthalle. Also aroundits foot areait keeps creating a white stringy mucus. This BTA is giving me a headache. one minute it seems ok the next thing it seems like death.

Welcome to nem-keeping!

This isn't mine but this is what it looks like, but it looks like it has gone today.

First picture is the mouth of the stressed anemone. Second one looks like it's hiding for some reason... is it moving around? Dark brown type think is a poop. Anemone can and will poop. When they do that they will deflate and then inflate.. loosing color? How old is your tank and what lights do you have ? Anemone required a lot of lights.. if it's loosing color than it's bleaching... did you do your research on anemones before you got it?

For how long did you have it in your DT? Before you put in hospital tank?

If it's new anemone I would put it in DT and let it acclimated. What's you water parameters?

It's not a new anemone its appox 4 months old. When I first had him he was drip acclimated 4 approx two hours before adding to DT.

He was under full spectrum lighting for 8 hours a day (OCEAN REVIVE T247B). He's losing his colour because he is consistently expelling his zoo.

ALK 8.3
CAL 420
MAG 1380
NITRATE .2
PHOS UNDECTABLE ( SALIFERT KIT)
TEMP 25.9 TO 26.2

Tank is very much stable.

I decided to go with qt and treat because he was deflating daily and expelling zoo sure signs of a sick nem.

I have done a whole bunch of research and had some excellent advice. I was just a little unsure about the bubbling at the mouth.

He is not under full spec lighting in qt tank but under strong standard llighting to ensure the zoo does not die through the two weeks qt.

He's not hiding he is deflated because he his expelling most likely the toxins that are making him ill.

What you described is a natural anemone behavior. It eats then it poops while all this going on it's deflating and inflating back...
